Becoming a medical surgical nurse at Banner University Medical Center resonates with my
desire to expand my knowledge through new and challenging experiences in providing quality
patient care. As a student nurse from the University of Arizona with an emphasis in integrative
health I believe that human kindness, empathy, and trust are some of the cornerstones of nursing
practice. In my pursuit of a Bachelor of Nursing, my clinical, lab, and simulation experiences
have allowed me to refine my skills in becoming a competent nurse. In tandem with my
education, I obtained time management, leadership, and prioritization skills that make me a
valuable candidate for this position.
Over the course of an 18-month program I have had the opportunity to attend over 400 hours of
clinical experience. In different units like medical surgical, critical care, pediatrics, obstetrics,
psychiatry, and hospice, I have established a well-rounded foundation in nursing practice. More
recently in my role as a transition to nursing practice student on a medical surgical oncology
floor I have been able to perform absolute care of up to 3 patients. This preceptorship has
allowed me to bridge the gap between learning and practice while gaining on site experience
with interdisciplinary professionals, patient education, medication administration, therapeutic
communication, etc.
In furthering this company’s excellence, I uphold care values of compassion, innovation,
integrity, and respect to create healing environments that inspire hope. My hands-on experience
and educational background would allow me to become a cohesive part of any team. With a
unique emphasis in integrative health, I have the ability to perform care of mind, body, and spirit
