Since my childhood days, I have liked to be in a company of individuals who are visionary and passionate

in developing and changing their societies. Through that, I have gained pedigree in leadership and
influence skills by working closely with several community-based organizations within my locality (Kibera
slums), the largest informal settlement in Africa.

I began being a leader when I was appointed the captain of our local football club Kibera United under
twelve years team in 2002. My leadership presence and no-nonsense defensive capabilities proved
decisive in bringing calmness and stability at the back of the defense leading to a record winning
percentage as never been experienced before. Kibera United was awarded the best defensive record at
that time.

Competing at the highest level has been my hobby. I have taken part in several innovative projects and
seminars. I was awarded as the best creative students when I developed an auto-tilt -turn mechanism
for incubation system during my undergraduate.

The Nubian Islamic organization through seeing the qualities I possess decided to appoint me as their
secretary-general in November 2018 to oversee duties search; representing the members of the
Organization in the organization’s forums and responsibility for circulating relevant information to the
members of the Organization through notices and announcements. At African Centre for Human
Advocacy Organization (ACHA), I have also been involved in project directorate programs where we
presented the information using Venn’s diagrams highlighting the daily directions the projects should
follow from project designs, implementation, and executions.

Culture and leadership go hand in hand. At Nubian Islamic organization, I have pushed for the
development and enhancement of traditional culture by creating general awareness through social
Media as Nubian Souk to encourage women of my community to earn through handcraft and maintain
our lifestyle. Additional, I have initiated a welfare project among the women to collect at least $10 every
month to boost their capital power by lending the amount collected to one of their members every
month in the form of a SACCO and interest-free. This projected has now attracted more than ten dozens
of women within Kibera slums. It was a difficult task at first, but now it is smoothly running.

To conclude, leadership skills create changes within societies and country. Putting groups of individuals
to attain a particular goal and achievement to improve their quality of living is cumbersome but can only
be done by gladiator leaders. I have great success, and Chevening scholarship will enhance my skills
further by earning me new development skills in leadership, which I will bring back to my locale.
