I’m here for a reason; today I want to tell you

about a highly relevant topic. Now, it’s not about coronavirus, it’s not about immigration, it’s not
about politics. I’m here to talk about communication and technology.

How do people communicate in their daily lives?

Well, communication is the main factor in everyday life. People use communication in many
different ways. For example using words, sounds, signs, texts messages, facial expressions, phone
calls and so on.

But what’s the meaning of communication?

Communication is the act of giving, receiving and sharing information. On the other hand,
technology is the way we apply scientific knowledge for practical purposes. It includes machines
like computers, smartphones, and all type of electronic devices.

Today I will focus on the use of technology in communication.

Using technology in communication has become a necessity. It’s now part of our lives. Nowadays
everybody has a cell phone in their pockets. We use our cellphones at home, at work, at school;
everywhere. the use of technology makes communication easier, quicker, and more efficient.
Smartphones, laptops, ¡Pads, TV just to name a few, are not just gadgets; they are a major
necessity in many lives and serve as a mode of communication. For instance, at school teachers
use their cellphones to communicate with their students, parents or the principal. Whereas, in our
homes we use the TV to watch the news, movies, series, educational programs.

Technology has changed the way we interact and communicate with others. With the increased
use of social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, twitter, G-mail, Skype, Tinder, among
others. People can create new relationships and also discover old friends. With technology parents
can communicate and keep track of their children making use parental security apps; besides, a
business can create business pages, get followers, communicate with them and the process is so
simple and free.

To sum up, technology and communication are changed social environment greatly. The
advancement of technology ensures that the communication is quicker and that more people
remain connected. Technology will lead how we communicate. For instance, before technology
people mainly communicate through face to face or writing a letter, Now, I notice more and more
that the smartphones are replacing face to face communication. I regularly see groups of people in
restaurants paying more attention to their phones that to each other. Are we beginning to choose
the company of technology over the other human beings? Think about it!
