A fun and nostalgic piece of the past: Matilda

Every one should remember this blast from the past, Matilda. I loved this movie, although it was
made for kids, people of all ages can enjoy this film. Matilda is a child with telekinetic powers and a
very smart child. The strong will and the dedication to overturn all the evil forces and people in her
life is inspiring to children.

The movie Matilda follows a young girl, Matilda (Mara Wilson) and her life with her cold and careless
family, who are not good people. From a young age Matilda has an interest in learning and becomes
a genius with the help of books and learning. Matilda ends up in a school with a tyrant as a principal.
Matilda struggles with her family and her horrid head mistress in this fun family movie.

All the actors did an incredible job, some that did very well Mara Wilson (who played Matilda),
Danny DeVito (Mr Wormwood and also the director) and Pam Ferris (Miss Trunchbull). I don’t think
there were any bad actors in Matilda. I think the movie was cast very well and all of the characters
were put in the right rolls.

I think that this movie was an exceptional movie that has stuck with me since my childhood. The
message has inspired girls and boys around the world to learn and do better. I think this movie is one
of the best children’s films out there. The only think that could have been done differently in Matilda
was the Americanisation on everything. The once British novel was turned into a classic American
film, which I feel was made ‘too American.’

Everyone who watched this film should have come away with a very important lesson. Everyone
who watched this should have seen how important education is in this movie. Matilda uses her
knowledge and power for the good of everyone. Matilda’s family, the Wormwoods, watched Tv
constantly instead of reading and were quite dumb people, unlike matilda who was an exceptional
child. All of this points to the lesson of the movie being education.

There is not a person I wouldn’t recommend Matilda too. I love this movie and everyone I know also
knows the movie. Weather you’re sixty or six this movie is for you. Matilda has a 4.7 star rating
online with 91% rotten tomatoes. The movie is also PG and ok for younger audiences. I love this
movie and I give it an A on my rating scale.
