INTRODUCTION

Hammering is the most widely used industrial as well as construction

activity. Hammering or screws, metal sheets, parts etc requires a lot
of time and effort. So here we propose an automated hammering
system that allows for fully automatic hammering process. This
allows for accurate, fast and automated hammering wherever and
whenever needed using a 12V battery. The person just needs to insert
workpeice and start the hammering machine. This machine can be
used for automatic hammering work as and when needed.
Aim
• This project aims at designing and fabricating an automated hammering machine.
• That can perform hammering operations without the involvement of any human operator.
• The introduction of an automated hammering machine in the industries will help the
industries in prospering.
• It will make the operations safe and easy.
Acknowledgments

We, the students of the mechanical engineering college (Fall 2023 -

2024), would like to present our thanks and Pillai HOC College of
Engineering & Technology and faculty members and guide of the
graduation project. (Design and Fabrication of Automated Portable
Hammering Machine) to give us this opportunity to gain the knowledge
and skills to design and implement this project. We also promise to be
the best representatives of the college in the field of workers.
Methodology

➢ The basic design for automatic hammering machine is to have motor fixed on
stand,
➢ Then motor shaft is inserted in center hole of the disc. Disc is connected to
the hammer rod with the link rod
➢ when we supply the dc current to the dc motor by using adopter then the
motor shaft start rotating further transmit the spinning motion to the disc by using
shaft
➢ the first decision is to create an impact force for the respective operation this
will help to determine product affordability.
Components

• MOTOR
• PULLEYS(BIGGER & SMALLER)
• HAMMER
• BEARINGS
• SHAFT
• COUPLINGS
• JOINT & SCREWS
• CONNECTING ROD
• In this prototype model we used slider crank mechanism to
convert rotary motion into linear motion.
SPECIFICATION

Total weight =6 kg.

Hammer weight = 1.5 kg.
Hammer length =460mm.
Hammer stroke height = 186 mm.
Width = 355 mm.
Height = 450 mm
Length = 580 mm.
Disc thickness = 1 mm.

Diameter of pulley =250 mm.
Length of link rod = 200mm.
FIG. FBD

We assume that,
AB=391.40 MM
BC=153 MM
CA=420 MM
• To find the torque force transmitted we have two cases

Case 1 : when hammer moves downward

Tf = 83.86 N-m
Case 2 : when hammer goes upward, torque force will decreased
Tf = 69.15 N-m

• Impact velocity of hammer

V = 0.306 m/s
• Shear stress in bolt joint
𝜏 = 311.73 x 103 N/m2
