ANNOUNCEMENT
Sub: - Reg. Formation of the Garhwal Centre of the Indian Institute of Architects

Reference is drawn to the (received) resolution dated 25 June 2023, adopted by attendees of a
Special Meeting, held at 5 PM upon the ZOOM (online platform). The said meeting was chaired by Ar.
Gaurav Varma (F23313) and attended by 19 Architects, wherein support signatures of more than 20
Architects, were presented upon a proposal for Formation of the Garhwal Centre of IIA, affiliated to
the Uttarakhand Chapter of IIA.

The (received) resolution, although complete in all other regard/ aspect, left it upon the wisdom
(decision) of the ‘Competent Authority’ (i.e., the Executive Committee of the Chapter) to process the
Proposal pertaining to Garhwal centre, through one amongst the following means..

i. EITHER form Garhwal Centre as a completely new entity (and transfer all Members affiliated
to the Roorkee Centre to the Garhwal centre)

ii. OR rechristen the Roorkee Center of IIA as the Garhwal Centre of IIA and revise/ expand its
jurisdiction.

The Executive Committee meeting of IIA Uttarakhand Chapter (chaired by the undersigned) was held
today, 29 June 2023, at 2 PM, via Online mode to deliberate upon the issue, and thereafter, the
following has been adopted as RESOLUTION of .

The existing Roorkee Centre of IIA , having a strength of 08 Members (in good standing), which
is inoperational/ unfunctional since last many years (approx. 10+ years) is being renamed as
the Garhwal Centre of IIA, having (revised) Area Jurisdiction comprising the geographical
boundaries for Seven Administrative Districts of Uttarakhand, namely Chamoli, Dehradun,
Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal and Uttarkashi.

As on date (as per IIA Records) the Garhwal Centre has 54 Members (in good standing) located
within its (revised) Area Jurisdiction, as mentioned above.

The Joint Hon. Secretary is instructed to relay this decision of the Executive Committee of
Uttarakhand Chapter, to
(i) the Junior Vice President of IIA, for information to IIA Head Office (including the National
Council of IIA) to make necessary changes in their records, and also to
(ii) the Esteemed Members of the Institute, affiliated to its Uttarakhand Chapter.
Further, the Joint Hon. Secretary is also adviced to urgently undertake all necessary action
(preparatory measures) in accordance with IIA Constitution and (adopted) Bye Laws, to initiate all
affairs for functioning of the Garhwal Centre of IIA, with a purpose of promulgating the objectives of
the Institute.
