Week 8 CONTEMPORARY ARTS PRODUCTION

Production Planning
Objectives:
1. Creates the intended final product using appropriate materials for the
best possible output. CAR11/12AP-0f-h-17
1.1. Make a proposal of an art work with collaborative effort of your
family members.
1.2. Produce an artwork based of what you proposed.
Key Concepts
Contemporary Arts Production
(Production Planning)
Production Planning – a planning on the ways and means of production to
have direction in the activities to be undertaken by the
producer. It is the prerequisite of production control.
Objectives of Production Planning:
1. Effective utilization of resources – human and the non-human resources
are utilized to the fullest because they are determined beforehand.
Author: HELEN B. VELOSO
School/Station: ANHS
Division: Dinagat Islands
Email Address: helen.veloso002@deped.gov.ph
2. Ensure a steady flow of production – a smooth flow of production is
ensured by the availability of resources for they are needed.
3. Estimate the resources – the quantity and quality of resources are
estimated; as a result their cost are determined and wastage is avoided.
4. Ensures optimum inventory – the estimation of the quantity of resources
helps keep the inventory for production purposes at a desired level.
5. Coordinates activities of department – the scheduling done during the
production planning is responsible for the coordination of the
department in the activities involved.
6. Minimizes wastage of raw materials – wastage of materials will be reduced
to a minimum, if not zero, because only those raw materials needed
production are purchased or acquired.
7. Improves the labor productivity – the laborers become productive if the raw
materials needed in their work are available when needed; if there is a
shortage of materials, they have to wait and are therefore left idle.
8. Helps to capture the market – when materials are available all the time for
production, finished goods are completed on time and delivered or
supplied promptly to the target market and costumers.
20
9. Provides a better work environment – production planning involves the
planning of the work area such that the physical movements of the
materials are properly sequenced to avoid back-tracking. It also
involves the setting up of a sale and comfortable work environment for
the laborers.
10. Facilities quality improvement – because all activities are properly
coordinated among departments the possibility of improving the
quality of the finished goods is present.
11. Results in consumer satisfaction – when the finished goods produced are
of good quality and these goods are made available anytime to
consumers, costumers satisfaction is guaranteed.
12. Reduced the production costs – production planning involves budgeting.
As such, the cost of production is reduced to a minimum because the
production operates on a limited budget.
