Safe Use of Gas Cylinders in
Construction sites
Abu Dhabi Municipality emphasizes implementing robust
Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards at
construction sites and avoiding fire accidents. Therefore, all
contractors and vendors must strictly adhere to the following
safety requirements. Furthermore, consultants have the
responsibility to ensure contractors' full compliance with the
stipulated requirements below.
Requirements
1. Using LPG gas cylinders inside temporary
offices, watchman room and caravans within
the workplace is strictly prohibited.
2. Gas cylinders should be stored in a well-
ventilated area, away from sun light, heat,
and potential ignition sources.
3. The number of gas cylinders stored in the
area should be limited, and only the
necessary amount should be kept on site.
4. Incompatible gases shall not be stored
together; Empty and Full Cylinders must be
kept separate.
5. Smoking should be strictly prohibited in the
area where Gas is being used or stored.
6. Gas cylinders should be clearly labeled and
identified with the type of gas they contain.
7. Fire extinguishers should be installed in the
area where Gas is being used or stored.
8. Workers should be trained on the safe
handling and usage of gas cylinders, and
firefighting procedure.
