The dancers performed very well and they are

fearless when it comes to throwing and catching.
What have you observed or reflected during the performance?
Yes, Sir. I hope one day I would have the confidence
to dance and to be a cheer dancer.
Do you imagine yourself as a dancer one day?
Sir, I think that the quality to be a dancer is just
discipline and confidence.
Very nice, Jaer. Now, how does it take to be that good in dancing?

Excellent answers, class. I hope during the duration of the class you
still have the enthusiasm to learn.
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new Now, we will have an activity called, “Copy Cut” copy this pictures
lesson pasted on the screen. Let me see if you can copy this pictures I am
going to show you.
I will group you into 2 groups, this will be the group 1 and this will be
the group 2. And you will be graded according to this criteria.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing Let us now begin the discussion about Cheer dance (Basic Hand
new skills #1 Movement and Position in Cheer Dance)
Who among you here have experienced being a Cheer dancer/s?
How was your experience?
Yes Nicole?
Sir I experienced cheer dance when I was in Grade 7
in OMSC. It was fun and exciting.
Wow at a very young age, Nicole started cheer dancing. Very good
Nicole.
Another one? Adrian?
Sir, way back when I was in elementary, our school
had a sports league and I was able to be one of the
dancers in cheer dance.
Yes, it is a must that during your early days you have to be involved in
dancing because it has a lot of benefits.
Cheerleading, team activity in which elements of dance and acrobatics
are combined with shouted slogans in order to entertain spectators at
sporting events and to encourage louder and more enthusiastic
cheering.
So, now it seems that you have an idea of our topic, we will be having
our discussion which is called “TeachTok”. I am going to demonstrate
the basic hand movements in cheer dance and you are going to execute
it.
As part of our discussion I invited a special guest this morning, she is
one of the dancer of the National University Pep Squad that has won 3
consecutive years in the UAAP Cheer dance Competition. Without
further ado let us welcome Ms. Daniela Silos, the captain of NU Pep
Squad.
Since our guest is here let us now start our discussion.

But first for the safety of everybody, I want all of you to remove
unnecessary things in your body such as your rings, earing, bracelet,
necklace and IDs that might harm you while you are executing the
basic hand movements of cheer dance.
Okay. Are you ready? (the students will follow the instruction)

Aba Syempre! (with hand movements)

Okay everyone please stand and do as I demonstrate. Now our first step
is the very basic, the Ready Position and this is how you do it.

First feet are shoulder width apart and both hands are in fists resting
just where the hips begin. Elbows should be straight out to the sides
and not pointed to the front.

Aba Syempre!

(the students will execute the position in 8 counts)

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Excellent class you have executed it well. Next we have, hand clasp, in
doing this you have to put your hands together in front of your chest,
clasping hands together.
Did you get it class?

Yes Sir.
Okay Are you ready?

Aba Syempre!
Okay let us perform the hand clasp position in 8 counts, 3… 2… 1…

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Very good class let us proceed to our next basic position, the T motion,
and this is how you do it. Arms are straight out to the sides at shoulder
height and hands should be turned so that the thumbs face forward and
the pinky fingers face to the back.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Good job class next is what we call the Touchdown motion. Can you
follow class?

Yes Sir.
Very good, Now, to do this you have to straighten your arms and bring
them up on either side of your ears. Hands are in a fist with the pinky

Give yourself a big round of applause because you have executed all (the students will execute the position)
the basic steps perfectly.
How was the activity? How was your experience in executing the basic
movements in cheer dance?

Yes Josh? Sir? (a student raise a hand)

Sir the activity was fun because we are able to learn

the basic movements while enjoying. And the
Very good class. I can also see the interest in your eyes in learning counting music gives a lively mood for us to execute
cheer dance. And now we are going to perform all those hand the movements very well.
movements in eight counts every movement. Follow me.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing Since you have the idea of the basic hand movements in cheer dance.
new skills #2 Let us now learn the 3 main roles in cheer dance and those are the
flyer, spotter and the bases.
Okay let’s start with the first one is the flyer.

Sir? (a student raise a hand)

Flyers are the people you see being lifted or thrown in a stunt. This role
is often full of thrill and is extremely exhilarating, however, not Sir being a flyer needs a lot of confidence and trust
everyone have the guts to do it. because you are going to be thrown up in the air.

What can you say about the role of the flyer?

Yes, Angelica?

Sir, they guide the flyer in lifting and when thrown

down.
Excellent answer. Yes, confidence and trust is what a flyer needs in
order to execute the moves properly.
After the flyer, now we have the spotter, they help lift the stunt up but
what differs is their placement in the stunt. They are usually placed at
the back and sometimes at the front of the stunt.
What can you say about the role of the spotter?

Sir? (a student raised a hand)

Yes Hazel?

The flyer is being lifted or thrown in a stunt.

Yes very good, that is the role of the spotter, to spot the flyer in case of
any unintentional emergency and catching the flyer in a stunt.

And lastly we have the bases, they are the foundation of every stunt in
the cheer dance. Bases generally tend to be the taller and stronger
members of the team but don’t be misled! Good bases are not judged
based on their size but rather, their techniques.
What can you say about the role of the bases?
Sir? (a student raise a hand)

Yes Paulo?
Sir bases are the lifters and the foundation of the
cheer dance.
Very good Paulo.
F. Developing mastery (leads to Formative Since we have executed all that are included in cheer dance let us now
Assessment) execute all the basic movements.

This is the proper execution of the main roles in cheer dance such as
the flyer, spotter, and the bases.
I have here an activity called the “Trust Game” and here are the
mechanics, group yourselves into 4 members each group and identify
who will be the flyer, spotter and the bases.
The bases will be positioned here facing each other while the spotter
will position at the back. The flyer will be positioned on the center of
the bases as shown on the picture on the screen.
Did you undertand class?

Yes, Sir.
Now the bases will put their hands together while slightly bending their
knees. After that the flyer will put his/her feet on both hands of the
bases while the spotter guides the execution of the stunt.
Okay ready position, on my que you have to do the instructions.
Are you ready?

1… 2… 3… Go! Aba Syempre!

Good job everyone, next is to let the flyer jump while the spotter is (the students will do the activity)
assisting the flyer to go down. Are you ready flyers?

Aba Syempre!
1… 2… 3… Go!

Great execution, very good everyone.

(the students will do the activity)
Now for you to experience the proper execution, group yourselves
according to the 2 groups that we had formed earlier. After that, select
who will be the flyer, spotter, and the bases. You will be needing one
flyer, two bases and the rest will be the spotter.

(the students will select members and their roles in

Have you selected your roles class? the activity)

Okay this is what we are going to do. The same as the instructions
earlier but we will be putting it with some twist. The flyer will fall
backwards to the spotters. Before executing the moves this will be the
sequence.
The flyers will shout “Bases and Spotters, are you ready?” and the
bases and spotters will answer “Yes we are ready”. After that the flyer
will say “I am Genesis (state their name) and I am ready to fall” and
then the flyer will fall backwards.
Do you understand class?

Are you ready?

Yes Sir.
Again, are you ready?
Aba Syempre!
Okay we will demostrate in 3… 2… 1…
Aba Syempre!
How was the activity?
(the students will do the activity)
How would you connect the title of our activity to what you have
executed?

Yes Anna?
Sir? (a student raise a hand)

Sir, as a flyer at first I am very nervous but it is just a

Excellent obervation, that is why trust is very important as a flyer. But matter of trust to the bases and spotter and you will
how about the spotters? do the drill smoothly.

Yes Yuan?
Sir? (a student raise a hand)

Sir as a spotter I need to have focus so that the flyer

will not get into any accident during the execution of
Very good, Yuan. Same as well to everyone, congratulations in
executing your roles very well. This shows that you are ready to be a the drill.
cheer dancers.

G. Finding practical applications of concepts Since your Intramurals is nearly approaching you have to make a cheer
and skills in daily living dance choreography for your team, example you are competing on the
cheer dance competition. What you are going to do is to create a 2
minute dance choreography and I will be providing you the music.
Did you get it class?

Yes Sir.
Do you have any questions?

None Sir.
Now, this side will be the group 1 and this side will be the group 2.
In doing this activity I am going to give you 10 minutes in practicing,
work collaboratively with your group mates.
This activity will be graded according to this criteria:

Are you ready?

Aba Syempre?

Your 10 minutes start now.

(the students will prepare their presentation)

(10 minutes has passed)

Okay class settle down and I am inviting the leaders to be here in front
to pick the number of your group. (the group leaders will proceed on front for the draw
lots)

Since the group 2 picked the number 1 they are going to be the first
presenter. Proceed here in front for your performance. Everyone let us
welcome the group 1.
(the group 1 will perform)

Thank you group 1 for your very energetic performance. Reminders

team leaders, please write the name of your members on a ¼ sheet of
paper and I will show you your grades after our class and without
further ado let us welcome the Group 2.
(the group 2 will perform)

What a lovely performance group 2, you both showed your knowledge

and ideas on the topic that we had discussed this morning. I shows that
your interest shown an impact on your willingness to learn.

H. Making generalizations and abstractions Now class after all the performances, discussion and activities we had
about the lesson this morning, let us sum up all that you have learned. I have here
questions for you.
What are the basic hand movements that we had discussed this
morning?

Sir? (a student raise a hand)

Yes Janine?

Sir the basic hand movement that we discussed is the

ready position, T motion, Broken T, Hand clasp, V
Motion, Left and Right Punch and Touchdown.

Correct. You have listened to the discussion very well.

Next question. What is the importance of the main roles in cheer
dance? Sir? (a student raise a hand)

Yes Grace. I think that the importance of the roles is that if one
does not do their role properly all of the roles will be
affected. They need to have cooperation and trust to
each other to execute the stunt properly.

Very good observation Grace. Excellent answer everyone.

I. Evaluating Learning For me to evaluate what we had discussed this morning, I want you to
get your ballpen and a ¼ sheet of paper and answer the activity.

(the students will answer the activity)

Okay let us answer, what do you think is the answer in number 1?
J. Additional activities for application or For your assignment I want you to watch the National University Cheer
remediation Dance performance and write a reflection about the video on a one (1)
whole sheet of paper. The video will be related to what we are going to
discuss next meeting.
Is there any more questions class?
None Sir.
Okay since there is no more questions. Goodbye class.
Thank you and goodbye Sir Gen, thank you for
teaching us today. May God bless you.
