Good morning, class!
Good morning, Sir!
Kindly check if there are trash on your area before we start our
discussion.
3. Checking of assignments Very good, class. Make it a habit to go to school every day.
Yesterday I gave you an assignment, right? Please pass them forward.
A. Review previous lesson or presenting the Class, do you still remember the topic we have discussed last meeting?
new lesson Can someone in this class share what is it about?
Yes, Jane? Sir (student who raised her hand)
Kindly answer what door you have picked, Diane. What nutrients are
cheer dancers going to get when eating this food. Sir, these foods are high in protein, so my answer Sir
is Protein.
Very good, the correct answer is Protein. Please read what is stated on
the slide.
Okay, Denber. What nutrients are we going to get when eating soy
bean and using table salt.
Correct. These micronutrients are electrolyte that helps your muscles
contract for movement.
Okay here is door number 1. Answer the question and read what is
written on the slide.
Sir, I choose door number 1 please.
Now, before we proceed to our lesson. I have one rule. Whenever I say,
“Are you ready?” you will answer me “Aba Syempre!” But, with full
of energy.
Do you understand?
Since you are all ready, let us now proceed to our lesson this morning.
Aba Syempre!
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
I have here a video clip. All you have to do is watch and observe
keenly because afterwards I will be asking few questions toward the
video presented.
Are you ready? Aba Syempre!
This is the National University Pep Squad during the UAAP Cheer
Dance Competition.
Excellent answers, class. I hope during the duration of the class you
still have the enthusiasm to learn.
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new Now, we will have an activity called, “Copy Cut” copy this pictures
lesson pasted on the screen. Let me see if you can copy this pictures I am
going to show you.
I will group you into 2 groups, this will be the group 1 and this will be
the group 2. And you will be graded according to this criteria.
(the students will stand up)
Okay, everybody stand up.
Aba Syempre!
Are you ready?
Amazing. You have copied it very well. Let’s see if you can still copy
the next photo. Are you ready?
Very good class. And this will be the last picture to be copied.
Are you ready?
Very good answer. But cheer dance is not only cheering but showing
enthusiasm in representing the team you belong like in the UAAP.
Aba syempre.
Now let us proceed to our discussion. Are you ready?
Aba syempre.
Again, are you ready?
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing Let us now begin the discussion about Cheer dance (Basic Hand
new skills #1 Movement and Position in Cheer Dance)
Who among you here have experienced being a Cheer dancer/s?
How was your experience?
Yes Nicole?
Sir I experienced cheer dance when I was in Grade 7
in OMSC. It was fun and exciting.
Wow at a very young age, Nicole started cheer dancing. Very good
Nicole.
Another one? Adrian?
Sir, way back when I was in elementary, our school
had a sports league and I was able to be one of the
dancers in cheer dance.
Yes, it is a must that during your early days you have to be involved in
dancing because it has a lot of benefits.
Cheerleading, team activity in which elements of dance and acrobatics
are combined with shouted slogans in order to entertain spectators at
sporting events and to encourage louder and more enthusiastic
cheering.
So, now it seems that you have an idea of our topic, we will be having
our discussion which is called “TeachTok”. I am going to demonstrate
the basic hand movements in cheer dance and you are going to execute
it.
As part of our discussion I invited a special guest this morning, she is
one of the dancer of the National University Pep Squad that has won 3
consecutive years in the UAAP Cheer dance Competition. Without
further ado let us welcome Ms. Daniela Silos, the captain of NU Pep
Squad.
Since our guest is here let us now start our discussion.
But first for the safety of everybody, I want all of you to remove
unnecessary things in your body such as your rings, earing, bracelet,
necklace and IDs that might harm you while you are executing the
basic hand movements of cheer dance.
Okay. Are you ready? (the students will follow the instruction)
First feet are shoulder width apart and both hands are in fists resting
just where the hips begin. Elbows should be straight out to the sides
and not pointed to the front.
Did you get it class?
Excellent class you have executed it well. Next we have, hand clasp, in
doing this you have to put your hands together in front of your chest,
clasping hands together.
Did you get it class?
Yes Sir.
Okay Are you ready?
Aba Syempre!
Okay let us perform the hand clasp position in 8 counts, 3… 2… 1…
Go!
Again let us start to the ready position and hand clasp before we Yes Sir.
perform the T position in 8 counts. Are you ready?
Aba Syempre!
Okay let us perform the T Motion in 8 counts, 3… 2… 1… Go!
Again let us perform the first 3 steps before we perform the Broken T.
Do you understand class?
Okay, Are you ready? Yes Sir.
Good job class next is what we call the Touchdown motion. Can you
follow class?
Yes Sir.
Very good, Now, to do this you have to straighten your arms and bring
them up on either side of your ears. Hands are in a fist with the pinky
finger forward. Feet are together. Understood class?
Okay let us perform the Touchdown in 8 counts before that let us Aba Syempre!
perform all the first movements we have executed, 3… 2… 1… Go!
(the students will execute the position in 8 counts)
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Aba Syempre!
Okay let us perform the V motion in 8 counts, 3… 2… 1… Go!
(the students will execute the position)
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Now is the most confusing step and it is called the Right and Left
punch and this is how you do it. Place your left hand on your hip with
your elbow straight out to your side. The right arm should be straight
up beside your ear. To perform a left punch, reverse the motion and put
your right hand on your hip and your left arm straight up in the air.
Did you get it class?
Yes Sir.
Flyers are the people you see being lifted or thrown in a stunt. This role
is often full of thrill and is extremely exhilarating, however, not Sir being a flyer needs a lot of confidence and trust
everyone have the guts to do it. because you are going to be thrown up in the air.
Yes, Angelica?
And lastly we have the bases, they are the foundation of every stunt in
the cheer dance. Bases generally tend to be the taller and stronger
members of the team but don’t be misled! Good bases are not judged
based on their size but rather, their techniques.
What can you say about the role of the bases?
Sir? (a student raise a hand)
Yes Paulo?
Sir bases are the lifters and the foundation of the
cheer dance.
Very good Paulo.
F. Developing mastery (leads to Formative Since we have executed all that are included in cheer dance let us now
Assessment) execute all the basic movements.
This is the proper execution of the main roles in cheer dance such as
the flyer, spotter, and the bases.
I have here an activity called the “Trust Game” and here are the
mechanics, group yourselves into 4 members each group and identify
who will be the flyer, spotter and the bases.
The bases will be positioned here facing each other while the spotter
will position at the back. The flyer will be positioned on the center of
the bases as shown on the picture on the screen.
Did you undertand class?
Yes, Sir.
Now the bases will put their hands together while slightly bending their
knees. After that the flyer will put his/her feet on both hands of the
bases while the spotter guides the execution of the stunt.
Okay ready position, on my que you have to do the instructions.
Are you ready?
Good job everyone, next is to let the flyer jump while the spotter is (the students will do the activity)
assisting the flyer to go down. Are you ready flyers?
Aba Syempre!
1… 2… 3… Go!
Okay this is what we are going to do. The same as the instructions
earlier but we will be putting it with some twist. The flyer will fall
backwards to the spotters. Before executing the moves this will be the
sequence.
The flyers will shout “Bases and Spotters, are you ready?” and the
bases and spotters will answer “Yes we are ready”. After that the flyer
will say “I am Genesis (state their name) and I am ready to fall” and
then the flyer will fall backwards.
Do you understand class?
Yes Anna?
Sir? (a student raise a hand)
Yes Yuan?
Sir? (a student raise a hand)
G. Finding practical applications of concepts Since your Intramurals is nearly approaching you have to make a cheer
and skills in daily living dance choreography for your team, example you are competing on the
cheer dance competition. What you are going to do is to create a 2
minute dance choreography and I will be providing you the music.
Did you get it class?
Yes Sir.
Do you have any questions?
None Sir.
Now, this side will be the group 1 and this side will be the group 2.
In doing this activity I am going to give you 10 minutes in practicing,
work collaboratively with your group mates.
This activity will be graded according to this criteria:
Since the group 2 picked the number 1 they are going to be the first
presenter. Proceed here in front for your performance. Everyone let us
welcome the group 1.
(the group 1 will perform)
H. Making generalizations and abstractions Now class after all the performances, discussion and activities we had
about the lesson this morning, let us sum up all that you have learned. I have here
questions for you.
What are the basic hand movements that we had discussed this
morning?
Yes Grace. I think that the importance of the roles is that if one
does not do their role properly all of the roles will be
affected. They need to have cooperation and trust to
each other to execute the stunt properly.
