One way in which fish and whales are similar is that they both have fins / tails that they

use to swim and stay upright.

Two ways in which fish and whales are different, are that whales are found in the salt (ocean)

water only, whereas fish can be found in salt & fresh water. Whales are mammals, but

fish are not.

Whales are able to maintain their body temperature because they have a thick

layer of fat / blubber.

This phrase above means that fish are coveted / desired because they are a healthy

source of protein / meat.

Fish contain/have an anti-freeze substance within their blood.

Fish are covered in a slimy material substance, that protects them from

getting damaged by salt and other chemicals in the water.

Fish would die if removed from the water, because they would suffocate as

their gills cannot extract oxygen from the air (only from the water).

Whales need to surface because they need to breathe through the blow hole

located at the top of their head.

The word meaning ''took care of'' form the poem was: tended.

The 4 activities that the market women would engage in / do would be:

coming down from the hills, planting the seeds, picking their fruits and feeding the town.

The words ''hungry town'' tell the reader of the poem that the persons who lived

(amongst the market women) in the hills, were well fed / nourished.

The phrase that suggests this is: ''as Heaven has blessed their toil''
