Terms of regulations for Danish Government Scholarship

Who is eligible to receive the Scholarship?

Candidates from a non-EU/EEA country applying for one of the following Engineering Master's programme
in Sønderborg (programme start in autumn) and be eligible to pay tuition fees:

MSc in Engineering - Mechatronics (Sønderborg)

MSc in Engineering - Electronics (Sønderborg)

The scholarships will be awarded to the best qualified of the eligible applicants. All eligible applicants who
are offered a study place, will automatically be considered for the scholarship. No separate application is
needed.

The Faculty of Engineering has the possibility to award highly qualified applicants for other programmes for
a scholarship as well.

NOTE: If you are eligible to receive the Danish State Grant, you cannot be considered for the scholarship!

Acceptance of Scholarship

Please send an email to scholarship@sdu.dk If you accept the scholarship – deadline for accepting the
scholarship is 1 April 2023.

Remember to accept your study place no later than 15 June as well. Accepting the Scholarship is NOT the
same as accepting your study place!

Selection criteria

The best-qualified candidates based on points will be awarded the scholarship. Please look under the
section "Entry requirements" for each programme. All documentation must be available before application
deadline, to make sure that we can process your application.

Payment of Grant

The monthly amount will be paid by the University in advance of the month. The first payment will contain
the living expenses for September and October and will be transferred to your account as soon as we
receive the information mentioned below.

To be able to pay you the grant, you must contact a Danish Bank as soon as you arrive in Denmark. Ask the
bank to open an account for you. Afterwards you must assign this account as your Easy account. The
University will use this account to transfer the grant to, therefore you must give us your

- Danish civil registration number (cpr. Number -Yellow card)

- Danish account number of your Easy account


- Danish Address

You may come by student service with this information or send it by email to me. To provide security for
your information you must send the information to me from your student email!

Taxes

Denmark has a progressive tax system. Everyone who lives in Denmark must pay taxes. To place you in the
right level of taxpayment you must go to your online tax portal (Log on for individuals) and find your tax
assessment notice and send it to me.

Conditions for keeping Scholarship

According to the Act of Government Scholarship § 5 number 4, regulations for scholarship you must remain
active in your studies to keep your scholarship. For further information about regulation for the study

However, the university can approve an extension of the scholarship up to six months if the studies have
been delayed due to long-standing illness or other special conditions.

The scholarship does NOT cover!

You must be aware of that there will be some extra costs which you have to pay on your own. Those costs
could be application fee to Siri (resident permit) and the embassy. Depositum for the accommodation you
have rented, plain ticket and so on. The scholarship does NOT cover those expenses.

If you pass your Master before time!

The scholarship and grant are granted for 2 years. If you pass your Master before time, you must contact us
immediately!
