1.0 Explanation

The aim of this procedure is to ensure that drilling areas are safe workers and equipment
operating in such areas.

2.0 Accountability

2.1 The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that this procedure is followed by
workers operating in the drilling area. If there are any difficulties in implementing
this procedure, such difficulties are to be reported to the drilling Supervisor and the
Drilling Supervisor will revise the procedure with the approval of the Superintendent
Drilling and Blasting.
2.2 All workers involved with drilling and who are in the drilling area are responsible for
implementing this procedure whilst working.

3.0 Reference

SOP – Entry to / exit from active work areas – second revision.

4.0 Definition

Based on the definitions in the entry to / exit from active work areas SOP.
Drilling area : Areas in the drilling area which are ready for pegging, ready for drilling and which
have been cordoned off with safety cones, tyres or safety berms.

5.0 Scope

This procedure covers all workers and equipment operating in the drilling area.

6.0 Procedure

6.1 No vehicle is permitted to enter the drilling area , with the exception of the Service
Truck, Water Truck and Diesel Truck.
6.2 Vehicles must be parked outside the drilling area which is cordoned off with safety
cones, safety berms or used tyres.
6.3 When providing services for drilling, operators of the Service Truck, Water Truck
and Diesel Truck must first stop outside the drilling area and then inform the Driller
or Spotter visually or by radio to confirm whether the drill must leave the drilling
area or whether the service Trcuk will enter the drilling area.
6.4 If it is safe and the drill is less than 40 metres from the boundary of the drilling area,
the Driller or Spotter will inform the Service Truck operator that the drill will leave
the drilling area for service.
6.5 If the distance of the drill is more than 40 metres from the boundary of the drilling
area, the Driller or Spotter will inform the Service Truck operator that the Service
Truck is permitted within the drilling area under the escort of the Spotter.
6.6 Service personnel must inform the Driller or Spotter visually or verbally of the
completation of services.
6.7 The Spotter must escort the Service Truck from the drilling area to ensure that drill
holes, pegs, and drilling boundaries are not damaged.
6.8 The Spotter must repair / define the drilling boundaries so the drilling area is clearly
visible to all workers in the mine.
6.9 All the Driller is responsible for the cleaning in the drilling area from waste of meal
boxes, plastics, aqua botol.
