Statement of Purpose

My name is Fati Amadu Yussif. I want to pursue my MSc Nursing from your University. Growing
up, when one of my family member falls sick, I remember how my life changed as everyone in
the family pitched in to help provide care. At first, I thought it would be a nuisance, but then I
discovered that I really enjoyed giving care to others and being able to form strong relationships.
Through this experience, I became interested in pursuing a career in the nursing field after High
School.

As far as my educational background is concerned, In 2009 I was enrolled in High School

(Ghana Senior High School) and sat for the 2012 WASSCE examination which came out with
flying colors. Furthermore I successfully completed my BSc in Nursing from the University for
Development Studies (UDS) in Ghana-Tamale with GPA 3.61 in 2018. After completion of my
bachelor’s degree I work with Pentecost Hospital-Accra for close to 3 years (from April 2019 to
date). For better prospects I have decided to further my studies in the same field. Then I started
surfing the internet for the countries and Universities that offer MSc Nursing and at the end I
shortlisted UK, Canada and USA.

I spent 3 years in my Job and realized that in the nursing field of experience, if I want to grow
myself then it is very important to take the knowledge of new medical technologies. UK is a
leading country with great medical inventions. So this time I want to improve my skills in a
professional front. Students who study in the UK can take advantage of the country’s impressive
technology and research resources. Universities in UK offer a wide variety of courses to meet
each and every student’s requirements.

My preference of Glasgow Caledonian University has been made after a tough research and
consideration. I am drawn by: the fact that I can combine studies while acquiring the MSc
Nursing: Advancing Professional Practice degree; the breadth and comprehensiveness of the
curriculum offered in the course; the opportunity to undertake research within the program; the
ratings that the school has for providing a supportive learning environment; the opportunity to
undertake practical training with a very varied cultural ‘mix’ of people; and, of course, the
prestigious reputation of the School which will maximize my ability to find early and suitable
employment anywhere as a Postgraduate Nurse. In the nursing profession, you deal with many
aspects of patient care, and I enjoy the variety in the routine that’s why I choose this course.

As a highly capable individual with strong academic background, I am proud to say that I
already possess a comprehensive knowledge of Nursing. This course will prepare me to
develop advanced skills in clinical inquiry, management and leadership in nursing field.

In conclusion, I would like to say that Nursing has grown into a passion for me and I want to
expand my knowledge in this field. I therefore wish to pursue my MS degree from your
University and improve my career prospects. I am fully aware that your curriculum requires that I
summon all my resources and I especially thank you for the opportunity given me to express
about myself.
