BOY WILLIAM

\William Hartanto (born 17 October 1991), better

known professionally as Boy William, is an
Indonesian actor, VJ, rapper, television personality
and singer of Chinese descent.

Boy William is the son of Hartono Hartanto and

Yulianty Blue.
Prior to settling in Indonesia, Boy lived in New
Zealand and had lived in the United States for 2
years. While in New Zealand he attended Oaklan
Senior High School Christian New Zealand. He is
currently studying at the First Media Design School
in Jakarta.

He started his career in the entertainment world when

he won a model competition titled Starteen in 2009.
Then, he turned into a VJ on the MTV Indonesia
program. Boy was asked to host the talent show
Rising Star Indonesia for three seasons and The Next
Boy/Girl Band for two seasons, before hosting two
seasons of eSport Star Indonesia and the eleventh
season of Indonesian Idol.
"I'm the person who has to do something because I'm
a child who can't stay still. Because we are young,
we must have thoughts that must do something, so
we have to keep doing something because later our
thoughts will run out. Therefore, dare to start," said

when Boy was in Portland, United States. At that

time Boy was using a car which was then parked in a
hilly area.

“Suddenly the car, my family and I, slid down. I

opened the door, I jumped out, got out of the ravine
and held on to the tree branch," said Boy.

“We were all in the car and ready to go and suddenly

my mother had a feeling like, I don't feel good. Let's
get out of the car first, we get out one by one and
close the car door," he explained

After the family got out one by one, the car they were
riding in began to back away and slid into a ravine.
At the same time because Boy was still in the car, he
immediately jumped out.
"Three to five seconds after they left the car, it
started to reverse and slide down very fast and I
jumped out of the car," Boy added.

The owner of the birth name William Hartanto

admits that he has pressure to replace Daniel
Mananta in Indonesian idol. How come? Boy Willian
must build a chamistery with the Indonesian Idol jury
such as Judika, Rossa, Ari Lasso, Anang
Hermansyah, and Maia Estianty. Moreover, the
figure of Daniel Mananta has been embedded in the
minds of the wider community because he has
guided the event for the last 1 decade. "I think the
pressure is more, I have big things to fill, my brother
Daniel has filled this event for 10 years," said Boy
William.
