Building on this vision, Sports Hub precinct master plan has been designed to make the very most of the site’s

strategic location and to create a new landmark destination in terms of space, form and quality of experience.
COVERING
In terms of movement, the extensive walkable precinct at Sports Hub links directly to local pedestrian and cycle
networks and to Singapore’s island-wide park connector system, providing excellent connectivity to the wider
city centre waterfront, to Gardens by the Bay and to surrounding residential areas.
Easy access to the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) system and other transport options have been carefully
considered in relation to crowd safety and management during major events, clearly separated from Sports
Hub’s demanding servicing requirements, accessed from adjacent expressways and surrounding road network
The 6,000-seat OCBC Aquatic Centre has a 50-metre competition pool with 10
lanes, a 50-metre training pool with eight lanes, and a 25-metre-wide diving or
multipurpose pool.
These facilities are open to the public by paid admission when there is no
event ongoing.
Beyond maximising greenery and passive cooling measures, innovative
engineering solutions have been integrated into the design to ensure minimal
use of natural resources.
The bowl cooling to the stadium achieves a 60% reduction in energy use when
compared to a conventional ‘cooled stadium.
The energy used is offset by energy harnessed from renewable energy sources
– making this a ‘zero carbon’ cooled stadium.
Economy of means is a key characteristic of the main dome structure itself
which uses one-third of the steel weight per square metre when compared to
other large span structures of this scale.

footprint. The total length of each truss worked out to 107 meters. In totality there are 19 trusses at 8.6 meter
spacing along the length of the stadium.
The turbine, which was imported from the united states of america and assembled in switzerland, costs rs 19 crore and piped natural gas (png)-run turbines will
generate 3.5 megawatt power to run the entire stadium. Roof projections of 15 meter, each are provided on the east and west sides and 12 meter each on north
and south sides.
Currently solar energy is being used for lighting purposes. Solar energy will also be harnessed and used on a large scale. The broad roof of the
stadium(107x185m) enables generation of no less than 1MW of solar energy, which will be used within the building and also put into the grid. The stadium’s
green aspects are several and varied. From specialized double-glazed glasses that allow high light transmission but low heat transmission, to brick walls that have
cavity to act as acoustic and thermal barriers.
The sports complex has a parking for 450 vehicles. The multi-purpose airconditioned indoor stadium has a seating capacity of 5,823. The stadium built at a cost of
approximately rs 300 crore.
The stadium handed over to the education department after the common wealth games, this stadium used to host badminton, table tennis, basketball
tournaments. This is a certified green venue and has met all the international guidelines. LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) green building
