INTRODUCTION TO SPORTS COMPLEX

03.6.1 Planning standards.

▪ It must be built within an attractive nature, close to

the important streets and secure for that parking
lots.
▪ The main entrance should be placed close to the
central, so that the building blocks can be mediated
to achieve ease of movement and communication.
▪ The main entrance should be located to the largest
surrounding street as an aesthetic.
▪ Movement compatibility with visual vision is one of
the important element in planning, which is the
presence of a sequence between human movement
and visual vision .
▪ The administrative block should be placed in central
which can connect to all the other space and help in
ease for movement.
▪ Linking site elements to an internal road, at least
for pedestrians' movement.
▪ To feed the tracks in shadow by providing trees.
▪ Consideration of existing site-specific conditions
and planning restrictions such as flood levels,
building and cultural heritage.
▪ Consideration of any impacts of the proposed
facilities on existing site vegetation.

03.6.2 Orientation.
▪ Generally, the events starts in evening and general
games starts in evening and morning, so the East –
west orientation is not preferrable because sun
movement is from east to west which will obstruct
the players eyes.
▪ North – south orientation is the best suited one for
almost all games.
▪ North light should be provided because seating
games doesn’t require window lights. It may
obstruct the players play.
▪ Swimming pool needs side lights, so large openings
are provided, and other games requires the all-
rounded light at height, so windows are provided at
the back seating.

03.6.3 Materials usage.

▪ Material should be lightweight, since it is cheap and
easy to cast or renovate.
▪ Steel is the only suitable material which can be
used to cover spans without columns.
▪ False ceiling should be done underside the roofs for
insulations. Thermocol, A.C decking can be used to
cover larger spans. Fig 3.7 Orientation of the spaces.
