Laboratory of Dr. Ramesh Shivdasani, MD, PhD – Department of Medical Oncology
• Investigated the cellular composition of colonic fibrosis in a murine model by conducting
immunohistochemistry staining and inspection under a fluorescent microscope.
• Engaged in a virtual seminar series, garnering valuable insights into diverse medical careers and
topics related to providing healthcare in underserved communities.
• Enrolled in optional introductory programming courses to acquire proficiency in utilizing R software.

Laboratory of Dr. Jeanine D’Armiento, MD, PhD – Department of Anesthesiology
• Conducted research utilizing PCR and flow cytometry to look into the role of the WNT signaling
pathway in the repair process of alveolar epithelial injury in a murine model.
• Studied lung biology, researching the correlation between secreted frizzled-related protein 1
(SFRP-1) and bronchopulmonary dysplasia in neonates.

Population Health & Clinical Operations Intern May 2021 – August 2021
• Assisted with project ideas and implementation; worked on a signature 90-Day Supply medical
adherence project to promote medicinal adherence in MMP population.
• Called patients and healthcare providers to promote switching from a 30-day supply to a 90-day
supply of medication, created and presented effectiveness to the pharmacy department.

VOLUNTEERING
Inaugural Black Farmers Caucus Conference Washington, DC
Volunteer January 2023
• Gathering of Black farmers in Washington, DC to discuss challenges navigated while operating
urban farms and provided information on the importance of work promoting health and providing
education for their local communities.
• Assisted with the hosting of the conference at Howard University, helped to set up the event, direct
individuals to break-out sessions, and serve food.

Women Advancing Nutrition, Dietetics, and Agriculture (WANDA) Washington, DC


Undergraduate Intern January 2023 — Present
• WANDA aims to build a movement of women of African descent to become food sheroes in their
communities through education, advocacy, and innovation by 2030.
• Supporting initiatives to implement and promote the goals of the Food Bill of Rights to establish
stronger policy and programs to boost nutrition security in underserved communities.

DC Tutoring and Mentoring Initiative Washington, DC

• DCTMI is a program aimed at providing a mentor for every student in need of additional academic
or non-academic support in D.C. to combat poor academic scores in the region.
• Assisted with facilitation of an English class at Martin Luther King Elementary, offered guided
reading and comprehension tests for students and helped to foster motivation for learning.
