ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Teacher plays a game of Hangman to introduce the topic. Use
dashes to represent the letters of museum and write them on the
board. Teacher asks students to suggest letters of the alphabet.
Continue until students have guessed the word. Teacher makes
sure they pronounce museum correctly.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Teacher writes spacecraft, satellite, planet, Mars on the board with
all the letters removed apart from the first and last letters. Tell
students they all refer to space. Students work in pairs and
complete the words. Invite students to come to the board and write
in the missing letters.
LESSON DELIVERY Activity 1 (SB page 53)
1. Teacher explains the task. Students read the five topics
carefully fist. Teacher points out that there are 6
predictions so one of the topics is mentioned twice.
Teacher plays the CD. Students listen and follow the text in
their books.
2. Teacher checks answers as a class. Teacher points out that
the ability to get the gist of a piece of text quickly by
recognizing key words, eg the predictions about travel and
transport include the words cars, space, is an important
skill when reading efficiently.

pairs and write the question in the correct order. Invite a student
to come to the board to write the question. If there are errors,
invite other students to come to the board and correct them.
LESSON DELIVERY Activity 1 (SB page 54)
1. Students copy and complete the table in their notebooks
with short forms of will and will not answer the question.
They compare answers in pairs. Teacher check answers as
a class. Teacher points out that will is often contracted to
‘ll in the affirmative, especially in spoken English.
2. Teacher emphasize that we do not contract the affirmative
short answer, Yes, I will.

1. They read the fove sentences carefully first. They work

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Teacher writes The Moon on the board. Teacher asks students if

LESSON DELIVERY Activity 1 (SB page 60)
1. Students read the dialogue fist. Teacher plays the CD.
Students listen and follow the text in their books. They

These tasks could be completed over a number of lessons
1. After reading a story, ask the pupils to work in groups. Assign a
character from the story to each group.
2. Ask them to work together and imagine what happened to that
character after the original story ended.
3. Give them time to discuss and work on this, monitoring to
support.
4. When they have finished get each group to role play what
happened.
5. Confident pupils could do their role play for the rest of the class.
6. Ask the pupils to now write their new narrative into a story and
create illustrations for it. When they have finished they can either
read their story to the group and project their images, or they
could put the stories up on the classroom walls.
7. Tell pupils to read the story of one of the other groups and
imagine they are the character from the story. Each pupil should
now write a ‘diary entry’ or ‘blog’ as if they were that character.
