Pitch CHECKLIST Dec 23

Presentation

- Are you presenting with a good voice volume?

- > Are you explaining your big idea and everything required for it with enthusiasm?

- Do your slides contain the right images, photos, graphs, statistics to help the viewer

understand the context of what you are showing?

- Would YOU want to watch your presentation and be excited by it?!

- Does your posture and dress sense portray you correctly? Are you representing your
future brand correctly? (Remember - There is no requirement to be ‘suited and

booted’ but you are very welcome to dress that way if you so choose.)

- Have you ensured that the camera is positioned in a way that your full upper body is
visible. You will lose marks for just being a ‘talking head’ in the corner of a set of slides

- Your recording should be 15 minutes in length. (+/- 10%)

Content of Pitch

Have you explained your business idea succinctly?

& Where it came from / how / why you came up with it?

Are the following JUSTIFIED at this stage:

- Your VPC and how it links to your competitors and strategy

- Your current understanding of what your business model may look like

- What marketing approach might be best?

- The costs that you will incur.

Finally…

1- Have you explained what you know are the gaps in knowledge and what you need to

research more?
2- How do you feel at this stage of the project (concerned/encouraged)? Consider what you

have understood about yourself as a future entrepreneur so far…

Good luck… work hard, research efficiently… ask for help if stuck! 😊
A Compelling Pitch

Try using this format as you develop your idea and do more research in the coming weeks ahead of
recording:
These four simple sentence starters allow you to create a concrete, concise, easily repeatable pitch on the
spot:
What if you could … [paints a picture of what is possible through your product, service, or idea]
So that… [connects to a meaningful, relevant goal for the listener] (relieves a pain / offers a gain)
For example … [makes things concrete and demonstrates existing traction]
And that’s not all … [demonstrates potential, additional future opportunities]

For example,
What if you could capture, collect, and categorize short-form audio and video content?
So that… you can quickly access and combine content together to make your own meaningful playlists to
help you learn, exercise, and be more productive.
For example … athletes are curating playlists that contain snippets of podcasts and video advice to help
them with particular stretching exercises. Then, they can easily access the content they want, whether
they’re in the gym, at home, or getting ready for a track workout.
And that’s not all … There is a social element to this product. You can share your personal playlists with
friends and even build communities of people with similar interests.
