MEETING MINUTES

The first meeting of the academic year commenced with introductions for new and returning
members. Marianne Petit, the Committee Chair, explained the committee's history, charge, and
appointment process to the attendees. Updates to the SSACs (Site-Specific Advisory
Committees) and the "State of the Site" sessions were discussed. Niyati Parekh and Marianne
Petit were announced as Chairs of the SSACs. There was a discussion about the roles of the
SSAC Committee Chairs, with a focus on ensuring that each committee's charge is site-specific
and aligned with the goals of directors and programs for the year. A debrief on the recent "State
of the Site" sessions additionally took place.

The committee discussed scheduled leadership visits, as well as various topics of interest and
committee charges. The topics included NYU-Shanghai’s role with the KAIST program, the
collaboration between Meyers and NYU-Accra, the IIT Kanpur initiative in India with Tandon, and
the Wagner Masters in Public Administration (MPA) and Masters in Public Health (MHA)
programs. The possibility of compiling a list of all MOUs or exchange agreements was discussed.
A conversation on the KAIST partnership ensued, including the arrival of 11 KAIST students in
New York, the topic of KAIST students taking more than Tandon/STEM classes, and efforts to
send NYU students to KAIST for the Spring semester. Discussion around issues related to
university liability insurance policies also occurred. Barriers to teaching outside the Global
Network University (GNU) were raised, and attendees explored possible avenues for those
teaching with partners not affiliated with the GNU. There was interest expressed in forming
subcommittees, particularly one for colleagues teaching outside of the GNU.

The meeting concluded with a discussion about committee membership policies, specifically
regarding terms and rotations. The session adjourned at 9:40am.
