1. By applying the utilitarian & transformative perspectives, explain how did the two
groups (Catholic French versus the Protestant English) view the Manitoba
Schools Act on education?

2. In 1990s there was an official complaint launched against Ontario Provincial


Government at the United Nations regarding public school funding. Providing
public funding for Catholic Schools in Ontario was argued to be a violation of
human rights. Explain why was the case made around human rights?

3. Context matters. Analyse and discuss how political, economic, social and cultural
factors in the Manitoban history have influenced the current form of the
educational system.
