... Bu gibi soruların her birine karşılık gelebilecek

felsefi cevaplar bulmak mümkündür. Çağdaş
eğitim düşüncesi içerisinde kimi zaman Platon'un
doğuştan erdem kavramından yola çıkarak, kimi
zaman Locke'ın ampirist görüşlerinden
etkilenerek, kimi zaman Rousseau'un görüşlerini
dikkate alarak, kimi zaman Aristoteles'in erdem
kazanmada deneyime verdiği önemden
yararlanarak farklı farklı görüşler ileri sürülmüş,
eğitime dair sorulara bu düşünürlerin ve başka
birçok düşünürün görüşlerinden yararlanılarak
cevaplar aranmıştır (Winch, 2012) . Gutek (2017)

... 6 7 Philosophy of education in teacher

education in decline 8 A problem internal to
philosophy of education, Winch maintains, is that
the powerfully dialogic 9 approach advocated by
Peters and practised at its height did not last.
Winch describes how, over 10 time, 'partial,
context-bound conceptions of education and its
central concepts' came to 11 dominate, causing
philosophy of education to appear 'aloof and
élitist' (Winch 2012) . My own 12 experience as a
teacher of being introduced to philosophy of
education at the Institute of 13 Education in the
late 1990s, and of participating in PESGB as an
academic society, was more 14 positive and
focused on critical dialogue, but this is a personal
view. ...

... By contrast, nowadays, philosophy of

education courses occupies no more than a
marginal role -if that, or as in many cases, they
have been completely expunged from the
curriculum of most academic institutions (Clark,
2013). Consequently, in the last decade, the idea
of reviving courses on the philosophy of
education and making them a central part of
teacher-education programs has resurfaced and
received renewed attention (Winch, 2012) ,
frequently accompanied by citations of Peters'
claims and a review of the valuable contribution
of such courses (theoretical or practical
philosophy of education) to students in teacher-
education programs. Thus, for example, an article
that discusses an accelerated teacher-education
program offered in a small municipal college in
the US gave voice to students' impressions, which
confirmed the value of such a learning
experience. ...

... In the historical process, the teacher training

system has always been a matter of debate both
in Turkey and the world. The issues of how and
where a teacher should be trained, of their
qualifications, and the question about how can
they acquire such qualifications and in which
process they can do so forms an important field
for debate (Aydın, Sarıer, Uysal, Aydoğdu-Özoğlu
& Özer, 2014;Balcı, 2008; Commission of the
European Communities [CEC], 2007;Ellis,
2010;Hacettepe University, 2017;Küçükali,
2011;Lewis and Young, 2013; Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı
Öğretmen Yetiştirme ve Geliştirme Genel
Müdürlüğü [MEB ÖYGM], 2017a; Nuland,
2011;Oancea and Orchard, 2012;Suzuki,
2014;Şişman, 2009;Ünal and Özsoy,
2010; Winch, 2012; World Bank, 2011;Yüksel,
2012). With the debates on teacher training in
Turkey, it is stressed that the teacher training
system is problematic due to its objectives,
existential goals (Turan, 2006;Yıldırım, 2011), aims
and philosophical bases are not being created,
and these cannot get over the effect of the
politics on them (Erdem, 2015;Özoğlu,
2010;Özoğlu, Gür and Çelik, 2010;Şişman,
2009;Yaman, 2018;Yüksel, 2012). ...
