Exercise 3: Write an essay about 250 - 350 words for the topic above

Nowadays, the number of obese children is growing up day by day. Especially in Western
society , in the past decade, there has been an increase in the number of overweight children
by almost 20%. This phenomenon can be attributed to a number of reasons and there are
some negative effects on this.

There are some main reasons associated with this phenomenon. The first reason is children
eat too many fatty foods such as : snack, fried foods. This is mainly due to children being too
lazy to cook food at home and often buy fast food on the way to school which leads them to
be obese and it can cause many problems in their life. For example, an overweight child may
find it difficult to take part in some physical activities like football. As a result, this can
weaken their body and make it difficult to move.

The other reason for the problem is that children have bad life habits such as: they are lazy to
do exercise or sitting and lying too long. This could be explained by the fact that they are not
mature enough to think about what is good for their health and what is bad. Furthermore, the
problem is also from the ignorance of their parents. Parents nowadays do not have enough
time to take care of their offspring due to their busy schedule, do not teach them about the
importance of exercise and also do not show them that sitting and lying down too long can
become an obese child and cause many diseases like heart-related diseases, blood pressure
disease, etc. As a result, overweight children are more likely to die.

On top of that the reason for this problem is also from social psychology. This is because the
risk of obesity in children increases when children are constantly under pressure, stress and
psychological trauma. For example, children born into families where parents often quarrel or
create pressure on them to study will be psychologically damaged, angry. Therefore, children
tend to eat more, especially sweets, to reduce pressure. This leads to children quickly
becoming overweight and obese.

In conclusion, obesity in children can cause many problems in their life, because of some
reasons such as eating fat foods, being too lazy to do exercise or sitting or lying too long and
suffering from social psychology. Besides, there are various negative effects on the serious
issue, and unless the government and parents do not take a step forward in this issue, obese
children will suffer until death.
