transmitter. It is released
in small amounts from
glands, and is
transported in the
bloodstream to target
organs or other cells.

ACTIVITY
Who’s in Control?
Study each picture that depicts the
involvement of a particular gland in the
endocrine system. Write down the name
of the endocrine gland and explain its
effect, according to its function.
What are the hormones involve in
Ovaries and the Testes?
● Don’t worry, we’re saving them for

ENDOCRINE
SYSTEM
it’s role to Female and
Male Reproductive System

REMEMBER:
HORMONES
GnRH
FSH
LH
The Male Reproductive
Hormones
Gonadotropin-Releasing
Hormone (GnRH)
- It is made in the
hypothalamus and
travels to the pituitary
where it stimulates FSH
and LH secretion.
The Female Reproductive
Hormones
Gonadotropin-Releasing
Hormone (GnRH)
- It causes the release of two
important hormones, the
Follicle-stimulating hormone
and
Luteinizing hormone from the
pituitary gland.
The Male Reproductive
Hormones
Follicle-stimulating
Hormone (FSH)
-It stimulates
spermatogenesis and
testicular growth.
*Spermatogenesis – production and
development of the sperm cells
The Female Reproductive
Hormones
Follicle-stimulating hormone
(FSH)
- It stimulates
development of the
maturing ovarian follicle
and controls ovum
production in the female.
The Male Reproductive
Hormones
Luteinizing Hormone
(LH)
-It stimulates the
production of
testosterone.
The Male Reproductive
Hormones
Testosterone
- It is responsible for
the secondary sexual
characteristics that
develop in the male
during adolescence
period.
The Female Reproductive
Hormones
Estrogen
- It promotes the maturation
and release of an ovum in
every menstrual cycle.
- It is responsible for the
development of female
secondary sexual
characteristics.
The Female Reproductive
Hormones
Progesterone
- Its function is to prepare the
endometrium (lining of the
uterus) for the reception and
development of the fertilized
ovum.
- It also suppresses the
production of estrogen after
ovulation has occurred.
The Female Reproductive
Hormones
KNOW?
the female reproductive cycles slow to
a stop.
Other
HORMONES
PROLACTIN
Prolactin (PRL):
stimulates the
development and growth
of the mammary glands
and milk production
during pregnancy.
