I. Objectives:
At the end of the period, the pupils should be to:
1. Identifying roles of organisms as producers, consumers, decomposers and
scavengers in the ecosystem; and
2. Differentiate producers, consumers, decomposers and scavengers.

A. Preliminary activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
B. Motivation
1. Ask the students to give organisms that they are familiar with.
2. Ask them how these organisms get their food.
3. Ask them how these organisms interact with other organisms.
C. Presentation
1. Discuss each role of organisms and give examples through pictures.
2. Discuss the different types of consumers.
Producers – are the organisms that make their own food and energy source of
other organisms.
Consumers - are organisms that cannot make their own food and they eat other
living things to survive.

Types of consumers
Herbivores – animals that eat only plants.
Decomposers – are organisms that break down the remains of dead organism into
simpler substance.

IV. Application
1. Ask the pupils to give examples on the different roles of organisms.
2. Ask the pupils to give examples on the different types of consumers.
V. Evaluation
A. Identify each organism as consumer, producer, decomposer or scavenger.
