Unforgettable Vacation
By: Analiza L. Palacio
Summer vacation was fast approaching at that time, and some students wanted to go out
of town. Leah’s parents had a different plan. They planned for a week-long trip to Dumaguete.
Leah hated to ride on a boat and asked if she could just stay at her best friend’s house
where she could play with her friends. But her parents didn’t want her to stay and hear any
complaints. She kept on explaining to them about what she wanted to do but their decision was
already fixed. Family time is important to them.
Few days had passed, and Summer vacation has arrived. But Leah kept on insisting on
staying while they were on their way to the port. Leah’s father tried to cheer her up. “You will
only make your vacation dull if you won’t stop complaining,” said father. But Leah couldn’t help
thinking about how their vacation will turn out.
When they arrived at the port to board the ship, Leah was surprised to see how big the
ship was! She saw the clear sea water and witnessed how the ship stayed afloat. She then
remembered one of her teachers once told her, “It is exciting to board a ship!
At last they’re on the ship! She walked around and checked everything inside. She couldn’t
believe how luxurious their accommodation was. Their bedroom was excessively beautiful! Then
she went to the entertainment room to see what was inside. It was a magical show!
Leah was so amazed how the magician performed. It was incredible! She asked her
parents if she could try to be inside the bubble and her parents said, “Of course!” Leah was very
excited. When it was her turn, she got so nervous! She stood at the center and waited for the
magician to do some tricks. The bubble show went on. Other kids came too to watch the show.
Leah met new friends before their week-long trip has ended. She promised to keep in touch with
them. She will be forever grateful for the happy memories they had shared.
While on their way home, Leah apologized to her parents about her reactions before.
“This is the best vacation ever!”, she exclaimed. She looked forward for more vacations with her
family soon.
