The process of killing germs/microbes (bacteria, fungi, viruses) found on the
DEFINITION surface of inanimate (non-biological) objects such as clothing, floors, walls, and
metals.
1. To disinfect field hospital rooms.
PURPOSE 2. Reduce the risk of exposure to germs/microbes (bacteria, fungi, viruses) in the
room.

PROCEDURE 1. Ensure that disinfectants are protected from direct sunlight during storage.
2. Make sure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used properly.
3. Implement room disinfection, especially in rooms that have been left home by
patients and / or rooms that will be used to treat patients.
4. Make sure the room is empty and close all doors and windows except for the
entrance of the disinfection spraying officer.
5. Spray evenly and spread throughout the room. Make sure all corners of the
room are evenly sprayed.
6. Leave the sprayed room in a closed condition for at least 30 minutes. The room
is ready for use.
7. Record the implementation of daily disinfection into the logbook in the
attachment.
