PURPOSE
The penpal program is made to help elementary
students study english via foreign writing partners.

These writing partners would help them improve


their reading and writing skills while also giving
them a view of the outside world.
PROCEDURES
Elementary school students will write a short letter every to you month

Penpals will receive the letters and respond with their own letters

Response letters will be sent to the school students and they will make their
own response

PROCEDURES
Letters must only be written in english, exceptions being
when they ask something about your home country.
Contents must use letters that are easy to understand by
elementary students and must be age-appropriate.
There must be a response to the student and there must
also be at least one question for the student to respond
to.

No private information can be written in the letters (e.g.


Instagram, Facebook, Line, Phone Number, etc)
A response must be written within a week of receiving
the letter.
In the event that the penpal receives no letters, the
response need not be written.
If the content of the received letter is unreadable, just
make something up.
PROCEDURES
Envelopes and papers will be provided for the
response letter.
You are allowed to decorate the envelopes and the
letters as you please.

You may receive a gift from the penpal. It is also okay


to send them gifts as well.
Do not post the letter by yourself.

There are 110 students partcipating from


the elementary school and about 30
students from NTHU

I can only give a max of 15 hours.


QUESTIONS
Everyone will be in charge of 4 students (some
will be in charge of 3)

If all letters are written the student will receive


a total of 15 hours.

Late or missing letters will result in a penalty in


the service learning hours

Letters will be collected and distributed at the


IBP Office (location might change)
