What do linking words do?

Linking words help you to connect ideas and sentences when you speak or write.
We can use linking words to give, add information, information, to contrast ideas and
more.
Most of the connectives words that form the connection, are used to join two clauses
together or start a new sentence expanding on the previous statement.

We use them to show two contrary ideas or show differences.

The linking words of cause introduce a sentence that tells the cause or reason why
an action occurs.

There are three main types of linking words: conjunctions, transitions, and
prepositions.

1. Conjunctions:
The most important conjunctions are because, as, since, and so. These are used to
join two complete sentences (or independent clauses) together.

The most important transitions are therefore, consequently, and as a result. All of
these introduce an effect.

3. Prepositions:
The most important prepositions are due to and because of. Both of these introduce
a cause in the form of a noun phrase.

- She not only excels in academics but also participates in others activities.

- Because of bad weather, the football match was postponed.

- The store was closed, therefore, they had to find another place to shop.
(Therefore is a linking word of cause and effect)

1. Within the 4 classifications that we saw there are more linking words with the
same function
2. we can find more types of linking words such as sequence, time, conclusion, etc.
But these 4 are the main ones
