L2- Structural Planning and Concepts and L3- Building Enclosure

1. Compare the four major materials such as Reinforced In-situ Concrete (RC),
Precast Concrete (PC), Structural Steel (SS), Modular Integrated
Construction (MIC) adopted in the construction of skeleton framework by
reviewing their functional requirements of a building mentioned below and
state the priority in performance for each material accordingly.
@5% x 4 x 3 = 60% + 12% for priority = 72%

a.) Quality Control;

b.) Waterproofing;
c.) Fire protection

2. With the aid of sketches or photos, briefly illustrate the relationship between
the structural elements of walls, slabs, roofs, columns and beams in a skeleton
framework as follows for the components of Precast Concrete and Structural
Steel. @2% x 7 x 2 = 28%

a) Walls – external wall or curtain wall;

b) Columns – main columns and secondary columns;
c) Beams – main beams, secondary beams;
d) Slabs and Roofs
