CHRISTIAN P.

NIEVE
Kabataan Droga at Terorismo-Rosario Chapter
November 18, 2022 | 2:20-2:50

Serving our community for seven years has allowed me to discover my Ikigai –
the ability to live with internal satisfaction and with a sense of purpose. It gives me
great pride and honor to say that these opportunities and avenues have propelled me
to the forefront after seeing the significant impact I have had on my beloved
Philippines through my active involvement as a youth leader/volunteer.

Madujow no Kadukilomon ita tibo. I am Christian P. Nieve, residing at the

Home of Mamilingay Bayugan 3, the Golden Town Municipality of Agusan del,
Rosario, and the Home of Golden Tara, Province of Agusan del Sur. Living in an
area where insurgency has been identified over the years has strengthened my
resolve to work hard in the grassroots community. As the founding president of
Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo in the Municipality of Rosario, we work hard,
collaborative efforts have been exerted, and public and private Partnership (PPP).
On my first day as the Founding President, we visit the 5 barangays with the
presence of insurgency namely; Barangay Maligaya, Cabantao, Marfil, Sta. Cruz,
and Bayugan 3.

As a vessel of change, enlightening the Kabataang Rosariohanon is one of my

missions to influence them to be a catalyst for change. As an advocate of Peace-
building and Security, different Programs and Activities have been implemented. And
guess what, I am not just focusing on KKDAT Rosario but also helping the other area
of responsibility.

PROJECT BANGSUM or Bangon Surigao Movement- Surigao del Norte is one of

the worst devastated areas by Typhoon Odette. Every individual is affected, but
students enrolled in online classes are particularly vulnerable. As a result, this was
the ideal time for “Bayanihan” to occur. We can assist our local brothers and sisters
in their struggle to regain their footing. I, as a volunteer, donated a collection of
useable garments, and we raised a total of 5, 242 pesos. The funds were utilized to
purchase food and other necessities, which were then packed. Canned foods,
noodles, coffee, and rice, as well as soap and hygiene supplies, were included in the
package. A total of 48 bundles were assembled and should be distributed. These
packages were delivered to the Agusan del Sur Provincial Police Office (ADSPPO),
which would be the ones to distribute them to the inhabitants of Surigao. Through this
small effort, I along with my friends provide a little alleviation to the feelings of those
that were affected.

BARANGAYANIHAN: COMMUNITY PANTRY JOINT EFFORT Igniting Solidarity

in the New Normal. Joint forces together to help one another and share a common
good give birth to hope and survival. As the head of KKDAT- Rosario Chapter, along
with the PNP, initiated a project called "Project BARANGAYanihan," which is an act
of providing food and medicines to people who are struggling to secure them. It
stands by its tagline "share what you can give, take only what you need." Indeed, this
project plays a vital role in public health during the pandemic and it shows how our
collective efforts can help us to sustain and survive.

UGNAYAN SA BARANGAY
SPREADING INKS, STRENGTHENING ADVOCACY. Education is regarded as the
most powerful weapon capable of truly changing the world. Similarly, it is the most
impactful sector among other United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
because it holds the key to achieving many other SDGs through its ripple effects. In
support of SDG 4, the KKDAT and PNP launched a collaborative effort to donate
school supplies to students, particularly in a far-flung area of Rosario, Agusan del
Sur, to alleviate the burden on parents and children. It allows them to come prepared
to class and ignites their creativity and drive to engage in meaningful life-long
learning. Following the donation drive, a meaningful symposium on anti-illegal drugs
and anti-terrorism awareness was conducted in order to heighten the causes of the
organization. Consequently, this will empower the students to be the catalyst within
their community in promoting the goals and visions of the organization for making a
world safer from drugs, crimes, and terrorism.

And with that, I was blessed by our almighty God because of the
achievements that I’ve received from different organizations and councils. On July
17, 2022, at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Davao City, I received the Mindanao People's
Excellence Award Council's Most Exemplary Youth Leader and Advocate for a Drug-
Free Nation Award. Also, the Gintong Parangal acknowledged my efforts by giving
me the title "Most Empowered Youth Leader and Inspiring Advocate for Community
Development of the Year" on August 13, 2022, at Okada Manila. Lastly, the Local
Youth Development Council of Agusan del Sur, together with the Sangguniang
Kabataan Federation-Agusan del Sur Council, acknowledges me as the Outstanding
AgSurnon Youth Award recipient for December 2, 2022, in San Francisco, Agusan
del Sur. Hopefully, the Kumbira Awards will align my stars and allow me to be one of
the plaque awardees at this awarding ceremony.
