BOLT TIGHTENING METHODOLOGY

Descon shall hire the services of a specialized contractor for bolt tensioning to meet the CLIENT
requirements.

Descon shall remove all bolts and studs without damaging them. If removal by cutting becomes
necessary, Descon shall approach CLIENT representative for prior approval and confirmation of the
availability of spare bolts from CLIENT store.

Descon shall place all removed nuts/studs, or bolts in separate trays to be located near the respective
equipment they were removed from, keep all stud threads clear and reinstall them with anti-seize
compound. DESCON shall use anti-seize chemical WD-40 for that purpose.

Descon shall assess where hot bolting is required and with CLIENT approval. DESCON shall
commence a hot bolt overhauling program i.e. removal and fit back with anti-seize compound of
alternate bolts (one at a time) at the required spading position, column manhole covers and
exchanger covers for activities for activities which fall on priority. DESCON shall start the said activity
(7) calendar days before the shutdown commences.

DESCON shall provide full traceability of bolt tensioning by means of tagging on site and CTRs
(controlled tightening reports).

DESCON shall ensure and provide tensioning and torque tools for bolts/studs of size upto 3” dia. And
torque range upto 3800 KN.

DESCON shall ensure and provide enough equipment to operate simultaneously 2 teams at a time in
different locations.

DESCON shall ensure that all tools and equipment supplied must be properly tested and certified.

DESCON shall ensure all bolt tightening as per required torque by using adequate equipment.

DESCON shall provide all required torque tools, sockets, hose pumps, air compressor and equipment
for the full execution of the work specified in the contract.

DESCON shall supply complete lists of equipment to be used at site (7) calendar days prior to shut
down commencement date with certificates.

Defective tools shall be replaced within 4 hours in case of failure.
