PRACTICAL 3

Use of ping and tracert / traceroute, ipconfig / ifconfig, route commands.

1. ifconfig

2. netstat
3. Ping

4 traceroute
PRACTICAL 4
Using Packet Tracer, create a basic network of two computers using appropriate
Network wire.

Part 1: Build a Simple Network in the Logical Topology

Workspace
Step 1: Launch Packet Tracer.
Step 2: Build the topology

Part 2: Configure the Network Devices

Step 1: Configure the Wireless Router
Step 2: Configure the Laptop
Step 3: Configure the PC
Step 4: Configure the Internet cloud
Step 5: Configure the Cisco.com server

Part 3: Verify Connectivity

Step 1: Refresh the IPv4 settings on the PC

Part 4: Save the File and Close Packet Tracer

Step 1: Save the File as a Packet Tracer Activity File (*.pkt)
Step 2: Close Packet Tracer
PRACTICAL 5
Using Packet Tracer, connect multiple (min.4) computers using layer 2
switch.
Step 1: Open the Cisco Packet Tracer.
Step 2: On opening Cisco packet tracer, click on End devices from bottom left icon
menus, Add four PCs and a hub into the screen of the simulator.

Step 3: Connect all PCs and hub with copper straight cable by selecting it through the
cables menu from the bottom left menus in the simulator. Green signal in the wire
shows they’re ready to communicate.

Step 4: Now, we’ve to give unique IP address to each PC. Click on each PC, go to
Desktop section and then click on IP configuration to give IP address.
Step 5: Click on a PC, go to Desktop and then click on Command prompt.
Step 6: After that test the ping command in command prompt to check the
connectivity between these PCs.
tep 7: If ping command works successfully, then it means all these PCs are able to
communicate and share data between them and we’ve build our network of four PCs
and a Hub successfully.
PRACTICAL 6
Using Packet Tracer, connect a network in triangular shape with three
layer two switches and every switch will have four computer. Verify their
connectivity with each other.

Part 1: Configure Layer 3 Switching

In Part 1, you will configure the GigabitEthernet 0/2 port on switch
MLS as a routed port and verify that you can ping another Layer 3
address.

Part 2: Configure Inter-VLAN Routing

Step 1: Add VLANs.
Step 2: Configure SVI on MLS.
Step 3: Configure Trunking on MLS.
Step 4: Configure trunking on S1.
Step 5: Enable routing.
Step 6: Verify end-to-end connectivity.

Part 3: Configure IPv6 Inter-VLAN Routing

Layer 3 switches also route between IPv6 networks.
Step 1: Enable IPv6 routing.
Step 2: Configure SVI for IPv6 on MLS.
Step 3: Configure G0/2 with IPv6 on MLS.
Step 4: Verify IPv6 connectivity.

PRACTICAL 7
