About AI Forensics
AI Forensics is a non-profit which investigates influential and opaque algorithms, to
defend digital rights. We scrutinize the algorithms of TikTok, YouTube, ChatGPT,
Amazon, and more, to expose their biases and risks to users and society.

We collaborate with prominent international partners, supporting tech policy and

advocacy efforts with data and technical expertise.

Our reports are leveraged by lawmakers and institutions around the world (the EU
Commission, the US and French Senate, national regulators), and often covered in
leading news outlets (The Washington Post, Le Monde, The Guardian, ...).

We all work remotely from different locations around Europe, and meet up 3 times a
year for strategic retreats. Our culture values trust, autonomy, initiative taking,

About the Head of Operations Role

AI Forensics has grown to a team of 15 in just three years, and we are now ready to
welcome a head of operations to our team working in the fast-growing field of
algorithmic auditing.

The responsibility of the Head of Operations will be to lead the design and
implementation of the organization’s internal processes, as well as its HR and
financial processes. The strategic design of these systems will be done in close
collaboration with the Director, who currently holds most of these functions, and in
dialogue with the rest of the team.

This position is a unique opportunity to grow an organization in a high impact field,

from first-hand experience.
Hiring: Head of Operations

Role & Responsibilities

● Operations and HR:

○ Design, improve and implement the organization's workflow and

processes
○ Improve the organization's HR including contractual agreements with
collaborators and partners
○ Managing and improving operations stack of tools and services

● Strategic Support:

○ Design and implementation of impact assessment methodologies

○ Refining our org design and governance model in line with our growth.
○ Collect and aggregate input to facilitate smooth decision making
○ Support the preparation and facilitation of team and board meetings
with the Director

● Financial Processes:

○ Financial modeling and budget reporting

○ Accounting and banking

Skills & Qualification

● Profile:

○ Strong organizational, relational, and project management skills

○ Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
○ Enthusiasm to solve new problems and seek information
○ Ability to take initiative, ownership and work independently
○ Flexibility to adapt to a variety of tasks and functions

● Required:

○ 5+ years experience leading operations (preferably in an organization

of less than 50 people)
○ Fluent in English
Hiring: Head of Operations

● Preferred:
○ Fluent or professional proficiency in French (strongly preferred)
○ Experience within non-profit structures (preferably in France)
○ Experience in people operation
○ Experience or interest in alternative organizational structures

Compensation: €3,700 / month

Note that it is not required for the candidate to have domain expertise in the field of
algorithmic auditing and AI Ethics. Nonetheless, we are looking for a candidate
aligned with our mission and curious to learn about the work we do!
