Guidelines for the safety of the user and protection of I/O modules
This manual provides information for the use of I/O Module. The manual has
been written to be used by trained and competent personnel. The definition of
such a person or persons is as follows:
a) DESIGN ENGINEER: Any engineer who is responsible for the planning,
design, and construction of automatic equipment using the product
associated with this manual should be of a competent nature, trained
and qualified to the local and national standards required to fulfill the
role. These engineers should be fully aware of all the aspects of safety
with regards to automated equipment.
b) COMMISSIONING/SERVICE ENGINEER: Any engineer who is
responsible for the commissioning, use and maintenance of automatic
equipment using the product associated with this manual should be of a
competent nature, trained and qualified to the local and national
standards required to fulfill the role .This includes being completely
familiar with all the associated documentation for the said system.
Maintenance to be carried out in accordance to the established safety
practices.
c) OPERATORS: The personnel using the completed equipment should
be trained to use the product in a safe and co-coordinated manner in
compliance to established safety practices. They should be also familiar
with documentation, which is relevant to the actual operation of the
equipment.
Note: The term-completed equipment refers to a third party constructed
device, which contains or uses the product associated with this manual.

* The graphs shown below are provided by relay manufacturer specification sheet.
There is some degree of variation in relay characteristics and so this data should be
used only for reference purpose.
2. Module Wiring
The front side of the module is provided with two 10-pin terminal blocks for wiring of
field output devices. These are easily removable terminal blocks which facilitate
immediate replcement of module without removing wiring. This module can be
inserted in any of the I/O slots.

This is potential free relay contact type of output module. In all 8 outputs are available
as potential free output points. Common points (C0, C1, C2,…C7) per output point
are provided to connect either 24-250 VAC or 24 VDC supply. Connect output
device ( AC or DC as per specifications) to output point as shown in figure with other
terminal of output device connected to Neutral or GND.
User should ensure that total load current per point should not exceed
1 Amp and it should not exceed 8 Amp per module.
Maximum voltage between any two pins not to exceed 250 VAC. Hence
connection to two and three phase supply not permitted, if line voltage exceeds
110 VAC.
Replacement of Module:
From user safety point of view, replacement of live modules is not allowed.
Module replacement is allowed only after PLC and machine power is switched
off and the voltage at terminal blocks is confirmed to be safe.
Switching off PLC power does not guarantee that a voltage at terminal blocks is
also turned off.
In order to ensure that user is consciously removing the module from the slot,
HV-Clips are provided at top surface of the base rack. This is safety feature in
addition to locking clips provided towards fascia of the module. Thus before
unlocking the HV-Clip for the module, user must ensure that the power supply
for actuating the field devices connected at output terminals is turned off.
