1 Asking about age and hobbies

Scenario 1:

A new colleague, Ānní, arrives at Lín Yuè's company. At noon, Ānní has lunch with

Lín Yuè. They get to know each other through chatting.

Sentence structure:

你 是 哪 国 人? Nǐ shì nǎ guó rén?

你 是 哪儿 人? Nǐ shì nǎr rén?

Subj. 有什么爱好? …yǒu shénme ài hào?

Subj. 喜欢+ verb +(object). …xǐhuan….

Subj. 多大? …duō dà?

Subj. + number + 岁. …suì.

2 Asking about date, time and activities

Scenario 2:

Màikè is asking Ānní to see a movie with him. Ānní agrees. Then they talk about the

date and time of this movie, and their schedule. After several rounds of discussion,
they finally find a time.

Pretend that you are Màikè first, and then switch to Ānní’s role. Try to use the

suggested sentences.

3 Shopping at a market

Scenario 3:
Ānní is a shopping at a market. She asks the price of two things separately and
decided to buy both of them. Then she asks if she could pay by WeChat.
Pretend that you are Ānní’s role. Try to use the suggested sentences.

Sentence structure:

4 Order coffee at a coffee shop

Scenario 4:

Dàwèi is a shopping at a coffee shop. He would like a large Americano with ice and

Would like to take out. He also wants to pay by WeChat.

Pretend that you are Dàwèi’s role. Try to use the suggested sentences.

5 Confirm with someone about the location

Scenario 5:

Dàwèi is waiting his friend Ānní at the front desk of the dorm to go to see a movie

together. Ānní is late. Dàwèi is calling Ānní to confirm if she is arriving soon or not.

Pretend that you are Dàwèi’s role then switch to Ānní. Try to use the suggested

sentences.

Sentence structure:

我已经到了。 Wǒ yǐjīng dào le.

我还没到。 Wǒ hái méi dào.

我快到了。 Wǒ kuài dào le.

请等一下。 Qǐng děng yixia.

6 Communicate with a taxi driver

Scenario 6:

Dàwèi found a taxi parking on the road side. He asks if the taxi is available. Then he

tells the driver where he would like to go.

Pretend that you are Dàwèi’s role. Try to use the suggested sentences.

师傅,走吗? Shīfu, zǒu ma?
