THE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM (MALE AND FEMALE)

 The tissues, glands, and organs involved in producing


offspring (children). In women, the reproductive system
includes the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the uterus, the
cervix, and the vagina. In men, it includes the prostate, the
testes, and the penis.
The Male’s Reproductive System
The main male sex organs are the
penis and the scrotum which contains
the testicles that produce semen and
sperm, which, as part of sexual
intercourse, fertilize an ovum in the
female's body; the fertilized ovum
(zygote) develops into a fetus, which is later born as an infant.

The Female’s Reproductive System

The reproductive system in females is responsible for producing


gametes (called eggs or ova), certain sex hormones, and
maintaining fertilized eggs as they develop into mature fetuses
and become ready for delivery. A female’s reproductive years
are between menarche (the first menstrual cycle) and
menopause (cessation of menses for 12 consecutive months).
