This is similar to the short circuit test of the transformer the purpose of which is to determine
the equivalent resistance, equivalent impedance, and equivalent reactance of the motor
referred to
the stator.
During this test the rotor is blocked and the rotor windings are short circuited at slip rings if the
motor has a wound rotor. A reduced voltage is applied to the stator terminals and is so adjusted
that the full load current flows in the stator. The values of the current, voltage and power input
are
measured.

2. No load test.
The motor is connected to a supply of rated voltage and frequency and then measuring
voltage, current, and power input. The no-load power input represents core losses, friction, and
windage and small amount of stator copper .
