REPORT ON LIBRARY VISIT

A Library visit was organised by the Department of English

and Department of Tamil, Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Arts and
Science College on 22nd February 2023 for the postgraduate, undergraduate
students of English and Tamil. Group of 73 students accompanied by four
staffs. We went to the library in Periyar University. Periyar University Library
was established in 1997. It has 98,482 volumes of text and reference books on
various disciplines. The library subscribes to 124 National and International
journals and 13 leading Newspapers. The library followes the open access
system and provides its service to meet the requirements of P.G.Students,
M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars and faculty members of the University. University
Library has various sections such as Reference Section, Text book Section,
Books for competitive Examinations, Theses Dissertations Section, Back
Volumes Section, Reprographic Section, Question Banks etc. Library also
extends its facilities to the students and faculties of affiliated colleges.
Students are eagerly reading the books in the library. Decades old books were
also available to read and refer. The time spent in the library was effectively
used by the students. They took many notes on topics related to their projects
from the theses and books. The day ended with discussions on the work done
by every student.
