Motivating students to excel academically is a common challenge faced by school head
and teachers. In CNHS, this issue is no different. Consequently, despite the efforts of teachers and parents to encourage students to do their best in school, many learners still struggle to reach their full potential. This lack of motivation often results in poor academic performance and leads to a cycle of underachievement that can be difficult to break. However, a new initiative known as Project CLAP (Complimenting Learners Academic Performance) is aiming to change this trend and inspire Cabayan learners to strive for excellence in their studies. Through a system of incentives and rewards, students are encouraged to work hard and excel in their studies. This positive reinforcement not only boosts students' confidence and self-esteem but also motivates them to continue striving for excellence in their academic pursuits. In grade 7, 38 out of 112 students were recognized as academic awardees, accounting for 34% of the grade. Grade 12 had the highest percentage of academic awardees, with 41 out of 63 students receiving awards, making up 65% of the grade. On the other hand, grade 8 had the challenging percentage of academic awardees, with only 28% of students receiving awards. Grade 11 followed closely behind with 41% of students being recognized. Overall, the data shows a varied distribution of academic awards across different grade levels. Grade 12 had the highest percentage of awardees, indicating a high level of academic performance within that grade. Grades 7 and 9 also had a significant proportion of students receiving awards. Grades 8 and 10, on the other hand, had challenging percentages of awardees compared to the other grades. Consequently, Project CLAP is a valuable initiative that is making a significant impact on Cabayan learners and their academic performance. In recognizing and rewarding student achievement, providing incentives and support, and fostering a culture of excellence, Project CLAP is helping to motivate students and inspire them to excel in their studies. It has an impressive success rate of 85% in improving grades, the initiative is proving to be a powerful tool in transforming the academic performance of Cabayan learners.
