FUBTHER INFORMATION FOR SYSTEM DESIGN AND ENGINEERING MEASURES
Observe inlormation in section 7. ln case of aerosol formation special protective measures are
required (exhausting by suction, respfatory protection). ll the product is used with a
catalyst and crosslnker, the lollowing rreasures are recommended: Vapours/aerosols should be
exhausted directly at place ol lormation.

AIR
Thrs product rs a h ch molecular weight liqu d polymer which has a very low vapour pressure
i<l mm Hg)- As a result il s unlikely to become an atmospheric contam nant unless
generaled as an aerosol.
WATER
Th s product has a very low water solub lty (< I00 ppb). As it has a specilc gravrty ot < 1. I
d scharged to waler. rl wrll lnrlially fornr a sudace film- As the product is non volatile and has a
h gh bind ng a{t nrty lor padrculate matter, rt wrll adsorb io part culates and sediment oul-
SO IL
ll d scharged to surJace waler. lhrs product will bind to sedrment. lf discharged in elfluenl 1o a
wasle water trealment plant, the product rs remov6d from the aqueous phase by blnding to
sewaoe sludoe. ll the sewage slLrdoe rs subsequently spread on soil, the silicone product is
expected to deOrade.
DEGRADATION
No specific inlormation is available on this Droduct, but analogy with polydimethylsiloxane
suooests that it will deorade in the sorl, initially via an abiotic mechanism to lorm smaller
molecules. These rn lurn are eilher biodegraded in soil or volatilized into the air where they
are broken down in the presence of sunlight. Due to the very low water solubility of this
product. standard OECD protocols lor ready and inherent biodegradability are not suitable for
measurinO the biod6gradability of this product.

3. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS
Substances in the product which may present a health or environmental hazard, or which have been assigned occupational exposure limits,
are detailed below.
Methods and matenals for containment and Caut,on - spillages may be slippery. Sweep up and shovel into waste drums or plastic bags
cleaning up Wash the spillage area with water.
7. HANDLINGANDSTORAGE
HANDLING Producl as suppliedi Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid prolonged skin contact. Unlikely to
represent a dust hazard under normal handling conditions.
Process Ha2ards The product may be suitable for a wide range ol industrial applications and therefore it is
impossible to make detailed rscommendations regarding all process hazards. Thermal
processing requircs adequale ventilation lo remove any monomer decomposition products,
and L/se of anerl afnosphere may be required in some processes to safely decompose the
resin when il is used as a tinder. Arry thermal processing must consider the time-
temperature decoftposition of the resin. lf the product is to be used in applicalions for which
the hazards are not fully underst@d it is recommended to consult the supplier before use.
STORAGE Acrylic polyrners are supplied in either bags or bulk containers. Keep containers in a clean,
