Ballasting

1. Line up valves: SEA CHEST – OBS – OVERBOARD


Valves to be opened:
 BTV01 and BTV07 (for pump No.1), or
 BTV02 and BTV08 (for pump No.2)
 BTV11 (Overboard)
2. Click on “Start Ballasting” on BWTS panel
3. Once the status is changed to “Waiting for minimum flow” - Start BW
Pump
4. Once the status is changed to “Ballasting (x m³)”
Line up valves SEA CHEST – OBS – TANK
Following valves to be opened:
 BTV09 (for port side ballast line), or BTV10 (for stbd side ballast line)
 Appropriate Tank(s) valve(s)

Close valve BTV11 (Overboard)

5. To end ballasting
Line up valves: SEA CHEST – OBS – OVERBOARD
Open valve BTV11 (overboard) and close valves BTV09 / BTV10.
6. Click on “End ballast” on BWTS monitor
7. Once the status is changed to “Waiting for low flow” - Stop BW pump
8. Once the status is changed to “System standby”, close all designated
valves
De-ballasting

1. Line up valves: SEA CHEST – OBS – OVERBOARD


Valves to be opened:
 BTV01 and BTV07 (for pump No.1), or
 BTV02 and BTV08 (for pump No.2)
 BTV11 (Overboard)
2. Click on “Start deballasting” on BWTS panel
3. Once the status is changed to “Waiting for minimum flow” - Start BW p/p
4. Once the status is changed to “Deballasting (x m³)”
Line up valves TANK – OBS – OVERBOARD
Valves to be opened:
 BTV03 (for port side ballast line), or BTV05 (for stbd/s ballast line)
 Tank(s) valve(s)

Close valve BTV01 (Sea chest)

5. To end deballasting
Line up valves: SEA CHEST – OBS – OVERBOARD
Open valve BTV01 (sea chest) and close valves BTV05 / BTV03, Tank
valve.
6. Click on “End deballast” on BWTS monitor
7. Once the status is changed to “Waiting for low flow” - Stop BW pump
8. Once the status is changed to “System standby”, close all designated
valves
Stripping

1. Line up valves: DRIVE water pump – OBS – OVERBOARD

Valves to be opened:

 BTV11 (Overboard)

 WDV14 & WDV15 (manual valves, E/R floor - near the Fire Pump)

2. Click on “Start stripping” on BWTS monitor

3. Once the status is changed to “Waiting for minimum flow” - Start Drive

Water pump / Fire pump

4. Once the status is changed to “Stripping (x m³)”

Line up valves: Tank – OBS – OVERBOARD

Following valves to be opened:

 Valve for the tank you want to do stripping

 BTV13 (for port side line) or BTV14 (for stbd side line)

5. Once Stripping completed, close ballast tank valve.

6. Click on “End Stripping” on BWTS monitor stop

7. Once the status is changed to “Waiting for low flow” - Stop Fire pump

8. Restore the valves to normal position
