SEMESTER II
1. Introduction to switches, fuses, indicators and lamps-Basic switch board wiring with lamp, fan and
three pin socket.
2. Staircase wiring.
6. Study of Fan Regulator (Resistor type and Electronic type using Diac/Triac/quadrac).
AIM:
To construct the basic switch board wiring with lamp, fan and three pin socket.
WIRING DIAGRAM:
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
RESULT:
Thus the wiring for house was prepared and tested.
Ex.no:2 STAIRCASE WIRING
Date:
AIM:
WIRING DIAGRAM:
PROCEDURE:
1. Mark the location of electrical items on the given wooden board.
2. Mark lines for wiring on the wooden board.
3. The required length of PVC pipe can be fixed along the line with the help of clamps.
4. The wires of required length and colour were chosen and the wiring is being made through
PVCpipe.
5. The lamp holder and switches are fixed in the corresponding location.
6. Use the red holder colour wire for phase line to the lamp through two way switches.
7. The other point of the holder is connected to the neutral line.
8. Make the two way switch link positions as per table 1 and 2 respectively.
9. Note the glow of the lamp accordingly.
RESULT:
Thus the staircase wiring was prepared and tested.
Ex.no:3 FLUORESCENT LAMP WIRING
Date:
AIM:
To construct the Fluorescent Lamp wiring with introduction to CFL and LED types.
WIRING DIAGRAM:
1. Fluorescent Lamp :
PROCEDURE:
RESULT:
Thus the checking and assembling the accessories of a fluorescent lamp was done.
Also a CF lamp and LED tube light were tested.
Ex.no:4 Energy meter wiring
Date:
AIM: To determine the error and percentage error at 5%, 25% and 100% of fullload current for
the given single phase energy meter.
WIRING DIAGRAM:
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
PROCEDURE:
TABULAR COLUMN:
S.No Voltage Current Time taken for No. of Actual Energy Error %
revolutions (S) revolutions Energy in registered (W R – Error
Watts by Wa) in
(Wa) energymeter watts
Watts (WR)
THEORITICAL CALCULATIONS:
V= Voltage (V)
I= Current (A)
t = Time (Sec)
Energy registered by energy
meter
WR = n / meter constant
Error = WR - Wa
RESULT:
The error and percentage errors w e r e determined for single phase energy
meter at 5%, 25% and 125% of full load current.
Ex.no:5 Study of Iron Box wiring and assembly
Date:
AIM:
To study the iron box by dismantling and reassembling.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
1. A 400W iron box is dismantled for the study of its main parts.
2. Use proper tools to dismantle.
3. Study the various parts of the iron box.
4. Reassemble the iron box
5. Test it with the suitable supply.
Result:
Thus the 400W iron box was dismantled for study purpose and reassembled.
Ex.no:6 Study of Fan Regulator
Date:
AIM:
PROCEDURE:
1. A resistor type and an electronic type fan regulators are taken for the study of its main parts.
2. Use proper tools to dismantle.
3. Study the various parts of the two types of fan regulators.
4. Reassemble them.
5. Connect and test them with a fan.
RESULT:
Thus the resistor and electronic type fan regulators were connected for study purpose.
Ex.no:7 Study of emergency lamp wiring/Water
heater. Date:
Water heater:
APPARATUS REQUIRED:
6. Pliers 15 cm 1 no.
PROCEDURE:
1. Connect the emergency lamp circuit as shown in the circuit diagram for study purpose.
2. Switch off the main supply.
3. The emergency lamp glows with the help of in-built battery.
4. Again switch on the main supply: the emergency lamp glow off.
5. Connect the immersion water heater to the supply for study purpose.
6. Keep the water heater safely in the plastic water bucket.
7. The heater rods are only immersed in the water. The water is heated up.
8. Switch off the power supply.
RESULT:
Thus the emergency lamp and immersion water heater were connected and operated for study purpose.
