In today's society, does literature still have a role to play in fostering good citizenship? What are these roles?
How can literature help in building our community?

(Introduction)

Ola everyone, this is Trixia Dale P. Jimeno a BS Accountancy student from section A3. In this video, I'll be sharing with
you my reflection on how does literature still have a role to play in fostering good citizenship particularly in today's
society? Including what are its roles and how can it help in our community?

- Yes, it does, Literature has a significant role in fostering effective citizenship; apart from its influence, it also has
the ability to ignite a purpose, given its profound effect on the advancement of society.

What are these roles?

- Supporting the development of comprehension and appreciation is one way literature develops good
citizenship. This heightens our awareness of the societal issues that are present in our immediate surroundings,
which is one of the key factors in forming our conception of society's greater good.
- Literature also serves the purpose of helping us understand a variety of ideas and experiences, which inspires
genuine concern and aids our growth as responsible citizens.

Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, two of Jose Rizal's books, are examples I can use to illustrate this. These literary
works provide us a glimpse of how society used to be. And through these Rizal writings, we are educated and awakened
by many of the principles depicted in the book in regard to the evolution of society as well as molding ourselves to be
better citizens.

How can literature help in building our community?

In addition to reflecting or mirroring society, literature also contributes to its development by drawing attention to social
problems. It also impacts future generations by assisting them in understanding where their predecessors went wrong
and how they could make compensation. This has a bigger impact and role in various aspects of society's development.
As a member of the younger generation, I can declare with certainty that we must study literature for ourselves in order
to contribute to the development of our community's future.
