WHAT IS COMPUTER
NETWORKING?
Computer networking refers to a
system that connects independent
numerous devices (such as laptops
and computers) in order to share
information and resources. It is a
collection of two or more systems
which are linked together, commonly
by cable or wireless media.
WHAT CAN THEY
DO?
Computer Networks are some of the most
important aspects of technology. They
provide better connectivity that is needed
in the modern world. Modern computer
networks have the following functions:
1. Computer networks help in operating
virtually.
2. aTheye integrate on a large scale.
3. They respond very quickly in case of
condition changes.
4. They help in providing data security.
Networking can be connected either by wireless or
wired means. These are the common tools of
networking:

Loopback Plug
It may be used to test a network cable or
port, and in order to do so, connect one
end of the cable to a network port on a
computer or any other device; connect
the loopback plug to the other end of the
cable. If the LED light on the loopback plug
lights up, the cable and port are good.
Cable Tester
A cable tester is used to test
cables to find out what type of
the tool it is when it is not
labeled. You can use a cable
tester to locate the ends of a
network cable in a building. It
commonly has two
components; the remote and
the base.
Network Multimeter
This is a multifunctional tool that can test
cables, ports, and network adapters.

Wire Stripper
This is used to build your own network cable
or repair it. In order to do so, use the wire
stripper to but away the plastic jacket or
coating around the wires inside a twisted
pair cable so that you can install a
connector on the end of the cable.
Crimper or Crimping Tool
This tool is used to attach a terminator or a
connector to the end of a cable. Ir applies
force to pinch the connector to the wires in
the cable to securely make a solid
connection.

Punchdown Tool
This tool is also known as the impact tool. It
is used to punch individual wires in a
network cable into their slots in a keystone
RJ-45 jack that is used in an RJ-45 wall
jack.
