Bamboo
A composite material that is
readily available in eastern
Nigeria. The fastest
developing plant on the
planet(Alfonso,1987), it culms
is quick, around 70mm every
day ,and its completes with 6
months. With huge flame
resistance and durability, it
makes a good construction
material

Oil Palm Shell
This is layer that is close to
the flesh of a oil palm fruit.
It is hard, durable, flame
resistant and contains
moisture content 15-25%

• Use of louvers windows to maximise the flow of air

• Eco-friendly design through the use of recycled plastic bag , oil palm shell and bamboo

• Harvesting of rain water through the use of roof over-hangs

• The primary construction materials are readily available

• The building takes advantage of regional climate and cross ventilation is providing

• The windows follows the optimal regional window-wall ratio standard (WWR) of 20%

• Granite is substituted for oil palm shells , this is used for the over site concrete

• Oil palm shells are incorporated into the site hardscape

• Oil palm shells is used with cement for the floor finish for all bathrooms

• Bamboo is used for the roof trusses

• Corals are added to the roof gutters , this acts as filters
