Question 2
At a given instant the bottom A of the ladder has an a velocity vA= 1.8 m/s
acting to the left. Determine the velocity of the top of the ladder, B, and the
ladder’s angular velocity at this same instant.
Question 3
Member AB has the angular motions shown. Determine the velocity and
acceleration of the slider block C at this instant.

Part 2: Kinetics
Question 4
If the cord at B suddenly fails, determine the horizontal and vertical components
of the initial reaction at the pin A, and the angular acceleration of the 120-kg
beam. Treat the beam as a uniform slender rod.
Question 5
Determine the angular acceleration of the 25-kg diving board and the horizontal
and vertical components of reaction at the pin A the instant the man jumps off.
Assume that the board is uniform and rigid, and that at the instant he jumps off
the spring is compressed a maximum amount of 200 mm, 𝜔 = 0 and the board
is horizontal. Take k = 7 kN/m.

Question 6
A uniform slender rod of length L = 900 mm and mass m = 4 kg is suspended
from a hinge at C. A horizontal force P of magnitude 75 N is applied at end B.
Knowing that 𝑟̅ = 225 mm, determine (a) the angular acceleration of the rod,
(b) the components of the reaction at C.
Question 7
A uniform rod of length L and mass m is supported as shown. If the cable
attached at end B suddenly breaks, determine (a) the acceleration of end B, (b)
the reaction at the pin support.
