Note: Adjustment procedures must be performed before a test and adjustment of any line relief valve pressure setting is
attempted. A temporary setting of the main relief valve pressure is required before any line relief valve pressure setting is
adjusted. Refer to the adjustment procedures in Testing And Adjusting, "Pressure Specifications".

Test
1. Position the machine on level ground.
2. Stop the engine.

3. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic System Pressure -
Release".

Pump compartment

(1) Pressure tap (power shift pressure)

(2) Pressure tap (upper pump delivery pressure)

(3) Pressure tap (lower pump delivery pressure)

4. Connect a 60000 kPa (8700 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (2). Connect a 60000 kPa (8700 psi) pressure gauge
to pressure tap (3) .

5. Connect a 6000 kPa (870 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (1) .

6. Start the engine.

7. Place the machine controls at the following settings: Power Mode, engine speed dial 10 and AEC switch OFF.

Reference: Make reference to Testing and Adjusting, "Operational Checks" for engine rpm settings.

8. Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° ± 5°C (131° ± 9°F).

9. Start Service Mode and maintain power shift pressure at 1960 kPa (285 psi).

a. Depress the following three buttons on the operator monitor panel at the same time: button for fine control
mode (4), button for user mode (5) and travel alarm cancel switch (6). Hold all three buttons down for at
least three seconds.

b. The controller display (1) will be "00 00 00".

Note: If more than ten seconds pass between pushing the buttons, the controller display (1) will revert to the
operation mode.

c. Input the service code "0E 32 3A". To increase the flashing character, push the button for boom priority
mode (2). To decrease the flashing character, push the button for swing priority mode (3). To move the
flashing character to the right, push the button for fine control mode (4). To move the flashing character to
the left, push the button for user mode (5) .
d. Once the correct service code is entered into the controller display (1), the controller display (1) will change
to "10 -- 1" within approximately ten seconds.

e. This step is optional. Step 9.e may be substituted for Step 9.d. Once the correct service code is entered
into the controller display (1), depress the following three buttons on the operator monitor panel at the same
time: button for fine control (4), button for user mode (5) and travel alarm cancel switch (6). Hold all three
buttons down for at least three seconds. The controller display (1) will change to "10 -- 1".

f. On the operator monitor panel, enter a fixed power shift pressure of 1960 kPa (285 psi) on the controller
display (1). Adjust controller display (1) in order to attain a power shift pressure of 1960 kPa (285 psi) on the
pressure gauge at pressure tap (1) .

g. Move the flashing character to the far left. Increase the "1" to a "6".

h. Move the flashing character to the right and increase the "0" to a "6".

i. Move the flashing character to the right. The last four characters on the controller display (1) will begin
flashing. These characters represent the power shift pressure (kPa). Adjust the last four characters to "1960".
To increase the power shift pressure 10 kPa (1.5 psi), push the button for boom priority mode (2). To
decrease the power shift pressure 10 kPa (1.5 psi), push the button for swing priority mode (3). To increase
the power shift pressure 200 kPa (29 psi), push the button for boom priority mode (2) and power mode
switch (7) at the same time. To decrease the power shift pressure 200 kPa (29 psi), push the button for swing
priority mode (3) and power mode switch (7) at the same time.

Note: Always use the pressure gauge that is connected to pressure tap (1) to monitor the actual power shift
pressure.

Note: Refer to Service Manual, "Engine And Pump Electronic Control System" for additional information
on Service Mode.

Note: To prevent a change in power shift pressure during line relief valve adjustment, do not turn the engine
OFF.

10. The pressure setting for both the head end and the rod end for each cylinder is 36800 ± 1470 kPa (5350 ± 215 psi).

The following line relief valves are located on top of the main control valves: boom cylinder rod end, bucket cylinder
head end and stick cylinder head end. The line relief valve for the bucket cylinder rod end is located under the main
control valves.

Note: Return main relief valve pressure to the specification after testing and adjusting any line relief valve. Refer to
Testing And Adjusting, "Pressure Specifications" for the main relief valve pressure setting.

Note: In order to cancel Service Mode, depress the following three buttons on the operator monitor panel at the same
time: button for fine control (4), button for user mode (5) and travel alarm cancel switch (6). Hold all three buttons down
for at least three seconds. If the engine switch key is placed in the OFF position for at least 75 ± 15 seconds, Service
Mode will be cancelled.

Adjust
Stick Cylinder

1. To adjust the line relief valve pressure setting of the stick cylinder rod end, move the stick control lever until the
stick is at the full STICK OUT position (full retraction of stick cylinder).

2. Check the pressure in the stick cylinder rod end on the pressure gauge at pressure tap (3) .

3. Return the stick control lever to the NEUTRAL position.

4. Loosen locknut (14) or (16) on the stick line relief valve. Turn adjustment screw (15) or turn cap (17) until the
pressure gauge reading at pressure tap (3) is 36800 ± 1470 kPa (5350 ± 215 psi).

5. To adjust the line relief valve pressure setting of the stick cylinder head end, move the stick control lever until the
stick is at the full STICK IN position (full extension of stick cylinder).

6. Check the pressure in the stick cylinder head end on the pressure gauge at pressure tap (3) .

7. Return the stick control lever to the NEUTRAL position.

8. Loosen locknut (14) or (16) on the stick line relief valve. Turn adjustment screw (15) or turn cap (17) until the
pressure gauge reading at pressure tap (3) is 36800 ± 1470 kPa (5350 ± 215 psi).

9. After completion of line relief valve adjustment, tighten locknut (14) or (16) .

Note: Turning adjustment screw (15) or turning cap (17) clockwise increases the pressure. Turning adjustment screw (15)
or turning cap (17) counterclockwise decreases the pressure.
Note: Always make final pressure adjustment on pressure rise.

Bucket Cylinder
1. To adjust the line relief valve pressure setting of the bucket cylinder head end, move the bucket control lever until
the bucket is at the full BUCKET CLOSE position (full extension of bucket cylinder).

2. Check the pressure in the bucket cylinder head end on the pressure gauge at pressure tap (2) .

3. Return the bucket control lever to the NEUTRAL position.

4. Loosen locknut (14) or (16) on the bucket line relief valve. Turn adjustment screw (15) or turn cap (17) until the
pressure gauge reading at pressure tap (2) is 36800 ± 1470 kPa (5350 ± 215 psi).

5. To adjust the line relief valve pressure setting of the bucket cylinder rod end, move the bucket control lever until
the bucket is at the full BUCKET OPEN position (full retraction of bucket cylinder).

6. Check the pressure in the bucket cylinder rod end on the pressure gauge at pressure tap (2) .

7. Return the bucket control lever to the NEUTRAL position.

8. Loosen locknut (14) or (16) on the bucket line relief valve. Turn adjustment screw (15) or turn cap (17) until the
pressure gauge reading at pressure tap (2) is 36800 ± 1470 kPa (5350 ± 215 psi).

9. After completion of line relief valve adjustment, tighten locknut (14) or (16) .

Note: Turning adjustment screw (15) or turning cap (17) clockwise increases the pressure. Turning adjustment screw (15)
or turning cap (17) counterclockwise decreases the pressure.

Note: Always make final pressure adjustment on pressure rise.

Boom Cylinders

1. To adjust the line relief valve pressure setting of the boom cylinder head end, move the boom control lever until the
boom is at the full BOOM RAISE position (full extension of boom cylinders).

2. Check the pressure in the boom cylinder head end on the pressure gauge at pressure tap (2) .

3. Return the boom control lever to the NEUTRAL position.

4. Loosen locknut (14) or (16) on the boom line relief valve. Turn adjustment screw (15) or turn cap (17) until the
pressure gauge reading at pressure tap (2) is 36800 ± 1470 kPa (5350 ± 215 psi).

5. To adjust the line relief valve pressure setting of the boom cylinder rod end, move the boom control lever until the
boom is at the full BOOM DOWN position (full retraction of boom cylinders).

6. Check the pressure in the boom cylinder rod end on the pressure gauge at pressure tap (2) .

7. Return the boom control lever to the NEUTRAL position.

8. Loosen locknut (14) or (16) on the boom line relief valve. Turn adjustment screw (15) or turn cap (17) until the
pressure gauge reading at pressure tap (2) is 36800 ± 1470 kPa (5350 ± 215 psi).

9. After completion of line relief valve adjustment, tighten locknut (14) or (16) .

Note: Turning adjustment screw (15) or turning cap (17) clockwise increases the pressure. Turning adjustment screw (15)
or turning cap (17) counterclockwise decreases the pressure.

Note: Always make final pressure adjustment on pressure rise.

Note: If an appropriate location is not available to fully extend the boom cylinders, exchange the functions of the boom
line relief valves. Remove the line relief valve for the boom cylinder head end and the line relief valve for the boom
cylinder rod end from the main control valve. Exchange the location in the main relief valve of the line relief valves.
Adjust the pressure of the boom line relief valve that is now attached in the head end. After completion of line relief
valve adjustment, return the respective line relief valves to the original locations.
