An Ordinance declaring the first Monday of September of every

year as a Day of Thanksgiving in the Municipality of Tuba


Preamble

WHEREAS, the Philippines is a nation of people who give utmost importance to familial ties and
are deeply rooted in their faith, acknowledging that all blessings come from the Almighty;

WHEREAS, Thanksgiving is an annual holiday that honors the harvest and blessings from the
year that passed, serving as a testament to the providence and grace of God;

WHEREAS, the Municipality of Tuba, Benguet, recognizing the importance of gratitude and
communal celebration, aims to foster a culture of thanksgiving among its residents,
acknowledging the resilience and unwavering spirit of its people in the face of challenges;

WHEREAS, expressing gratitude not only promotes positivity but also strengthens community
bonds, and fosters a sense of appreciation for the abundant blessings received despite
adversities;

WHEREAS, it is imperative to establish an official annual celebration of thanksgiving to


commemorate and express gratitude for the bounties, achievements, and blessings bestowed
upon the Municipality of Tuba, acknowledging the role of divine providence and the resilience of
its residents;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan of Tuba, Benguet, in session


assembled:

Section 1: Short Title. This ordinance shall be known as the "Thanksgiving Day Ordinance of the
Municipality of Tuba, Benguet."

Section 2: Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to establish an official annual celebration of
thanksgiving in the Municipality of Tuba, Benguet, to promote a culture of gratitude, unity, and
appreciation among its residents.

Section 3: Date of Celebration. The first Monday of September of every year is hereby declared
as a Day of Thanksgiving in the Municipality of Tuba, marking the onset of the "ber" months and
signifying the beginning of the festive holiday season. It shall be a special working holiday in the
municipality. The celebration shall be part of the education of the children on values of gratitude
and thankfulness to the Lord. It shall likewise be a day of public thanksgiving for all blessings of
the preceding year and prayer for the entire municipality to be celebrated by all Tubanians
representing all sectors and led by the officialdom and employees of the municipality.
Section 4: Activities and Programs. The Municipal Government of Tuba shall organize various
activities and programs to commemorate the annual celebration of thanksgiving. These activities
may include but are not limited to:

1. Ecumenical or Interfaith Thanksgiving Service: A religious service involving various faith


communities within the municipality to offer prayers of thanksgiving.

2. Cultural Presentations: Performances showcasing the diverse cultural heritage of Tuba,


including traditional dances, music, and arts.

3. Community Feasts: Shared meals or potluck gatherings where residents, employees from
both the private and public sector, stakeholders and visitors can come together in the
municipal premises to enjoy food and fellowship.

4. Volunteer Opportunities: Initiatives encouraging residents to give back to the community


through volunteer work, such as charity drives, cleanup campaigns, or outreach programs.

5. Recognition of Achievements: Acknowledgment of individuals, organizations, or businesses


that have made significant contributions to the development and well-being of the
municipality.

Section 5: Programs for Private Institutions. In addition to the initiatives organized by the
Municipal Government, private institutions within the Municipality of Tuba are encouraged to
adopt and implement their own programs to coincide with the Day of Thanksgiving. These
programs may include:

1. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Projects: Private companies and businesses can initiate
CSR activities such as community outreach programs, livelihood training, or donation drives
to support marginalized sectors within the municipality.

2. Environmental Conservation Initiatives: Environmental groups, NGOs, or private businesses


can undertake environmental conservation projects such as tree planting activities, river
cleanups, or sustainable development initiatives to protect and preserve the natural
resources of Tuba Municipality.

3. Health and Wellness Campaigns: Health institutions, wellness centers, or fitness clubs may
organize health and wellness campaigns, fitness challenges, or medical missions aimed at
promoting physical and mental well-being among residents during the Day of Thanksgiving.

4. Promos and Discounts: Private businesses, retail stores, hotels, resorts, restaurants, and
service providers are encouraged to offer special promotions, discounts, or packages during
the Day of Thanksgiving to express appreciation to the community and enhance the
celebratory atmosphere.
Section 6: Family Dinner. Acknowledging the invaluable significance of familial connections, each
household within the municipality is earnestly encouraged to designate an evening hour on the
Day of Thanksgiving for a shared family meal. This tradition is not merely a gesture but a
cornerstone of community building, aimed at fortifying familial ties and amplifying the collective
spirit of gratitude at the grassroots level of our society.

Section 5: Implementation. The Municipal Mayor, in coordination with the Municipal Tourism
Office, shall create a Committee composed of government, private and religious sectors of the
Municipality of Tuba to prepare and organize the celebration of Thanksgiving Day which will be
meaningful to all people, united as one and declaring one goal, that is to glorify God. They shall
oversee the planning, organization, and execution of activities in accordance with this
ordinance.

Section 7. Coordination. Private institutions are encouraged to collaborate with the Municipal
Government and other stakeholders to ensure the success and meaningful impact of their
programs in enhancing the spirit of thanksgiving and community engagement within the
Municipality of Tuba.

Section 6: Funding. Funding for the annual celebration of thanksgiving shall be included in the
annual budget of the Municipality of Tuba, subject to the availability of funds. The Municipal
Mayor shall allocate sufficient funds for the successful implementation of the activities and
programs outlined in this ordinance.

Section 7: Effectivity. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
