REGULAR VERBS

What Is a Regular Verbs?

A regular verb is a verb that follows a
common pattern of conjugation. The
past tense of a regular verb is formed
by adding an ‘ed’ or ‘d’ to the root
verb and the past participle form of
the verb is the same as its past form.

How to Conjugate Regular Verbs?

Regular verbs can be conjugated to form the simple past form and
the past participle forms. A regular verb can be made simple past by,
adding an ‘ed’ to the end of the base form of the regular verb and
doubling the last consonant
adding an ‘ed’ to the end of regular verbs – three or four lettered
monosyllabic words preceded and followed by consonants
adding a ‘d’ to the end of the base form of the regular verb
ending with an ‘e’
removing ‘y’ and adding an ‘ied’ to the end of the base form of
the regular verb ending with a consonant and a ‘y’
adding ‘ed’ to monosyllabic words ending with a vowel followed
by a ‘y’

IRREGULAR VERBS
What is a Irregular Verbs?, Irregular verbs are verbs that do not
follow the normal patterns for tense and past participle. While most
English regular verbs use the ending “-ed” for the past tense and
participle forms, irregular verbs each have their own unique tense
forms and past participles.

Learning to conjugate irregular verbs can be a little tricky. It is often

considered a difficult task, but that is not the case. Before we start, try to
unlearn the concepts or notions about irregular verbs you have in your
mind. Let us start from the beginning with a fresh and clear mind.
The conjugation of irregular verbs can be learnt under three main groups
based on how they behave when changed to represent the simple past and
past participle forms.
It can be grouped as follows:
Group 1 – Irregular verbs which take the same spelling as the base verb
in the simple past form and the past participle form. These verbs remain
the same throughout all tense forms.
Group 2 – Irregular verbs which have the same spelling in the simple
past form and the past participle form. There are some irregular verbs
in this group that take an alternate spelling too.
Group 3 – Irregular verbs which have three different spelling patterns in
the base form, the simple past form and the past participle form.

SIMPLE PAST
(affirmative,negative, interrogative)

WHAT IS THE SIMPLE PAST?

, The simple past tense is a verb form used to
refer to an action or series of actions that were
completed in the past.

HOW TO FORM NEGATIVES?

In the past simple tense, negative
statements are formed by adding “did not”
(or the contraction “didn’t”) between the
subject and the infinitive form of the verb.
For the verb “be,” negative statements are
formed by adding “was not/were not” (or
the contractions “wasn’t/weren’t”) after the
subject.

HOW TO FORM QUESTIONS?

To ask a yes–no question using the simple
past, add “did” before the subject and the
infinitiveform of the verb.

To ask a question starting with a wh-word

(an interrogative pronoun like “who” or an
interrogative adverb like “where”), follow
the same word order as above, but add the
pronoun or adverb at the start of the
sentence.

ADVERBS OF TIME
WHAT IS AN ADVERB OF TIME?
Adverbs that change or qualify the meaning of a
sentence by telling us when things happen are
defined as adverbs of time. An adverb of time is just
what you might expect it to be – a word that
describes when, for how long, or how often a certain
action happened. You will notice that many adverbs
of time are the same as adverbs of frequency. There
is quite a bit of overlap between these two types of
adverbs – so much so that some instructors choose to
mention one or the other but not both.

MINUTE READING
Once upon a time, in a small village nestled between rolling
hills, there lived a curious girl named Lily. Lily loved to
explore the woods surrounding her village, and one day
she stumbled upon a hidden pathway that led to a
mysterious old oak tree. As she approached the tree, she
heard a soft whispering sound coming from its gnarled
trunk. Intrigued, Lily pressed her ear against the bark and
listened closely.

To her amazement, the tree began to speak to her. It told

her of a long-forgotten treasure buried deep within the
woods, guarded by magical creatures. With excitement in
her heart, Lily set out on a quest to find the treasure,
facing challenges and making new friends along the way.

After many adventures and close calls, Lily finally reached

the heart of the woods and discovered the treasure—a
chest filled with sparkling jewels and ancient artifacts. As
she gazed at the treasure in awe, she realized that the true
magic lay in the journey itself and the friends she had
made along the way.

From that day on, Lily became known as the fearless

explorer of her village, sharing her tales of adventure with
everyone she met.

The end.
